team expanded their schedule again, playing 11 total games for the first time. In a scheduling quirk that would NEVER fly today, the first five games in a row were all at home on Riggs Field, while the last SIX IN A ROW were on the road.
The road games Included yet another matchup with The Citadel at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds. I can only guess that crowds for that game at that venue must have been pretty good, for it to keep repeating for several years.
The Tigers didn't exactly get off to a roaring start in the "Roaring Twenties". 4th year Coach Ed Donahue saw his charges compile a 4-6-1 record. Forget it, you would never guess who tied us, at home. It was Presbyterian, doing the deed 7-7 in Game 2 of the schedule.
The season was tragic in another way as well. The annual victory over South Carolina on Big Thursday was NOT accomplished. The Tigers fell to the Coots by a score of 3-0. Could this have been the impetus for the stock market crash nine years later? We'll never know for sure. All season results below.
Erskine W 26–0

Wofford W 13–7
Auburn L 0–21
At Tennessee L 0–26 (15th and Cumberland Field Knoxville, TN)
At South Carolina L 0–3 (Clemson leads series 13-4-1)
At Georgia Tech L 0–7 (Grant Field, our own personal House of Horrors back then)
The Citadel W 26–0 (County Fairgrounds, Orangeburg, SC)
At Furman L 0–14
At Georgia L 0–55 (Sanford Field getting TOUGH!)
Six of our games were scheduled against what would now be considered FCS schools. Football leagues and school enrollments were far different back then. We have to also give congratulations to the Furman Paladins, who defeated us in Greenville, and apparently softened us up for the Dawgs the next week!
