Not trying to start anything really, just wondering

Oct 10, 2014, 12:06 PM

how does Daniel Rodriguez's book deal work as far as profiting while an amateur athlete from his own likeness, story, football fame, etc?

I really don't know if he is getting money from the book. Knowing Daniel it is all going to the Wounded Warrior Project. I was just wondering how that all worked.

also not trying to start anything

and I have a tremendous amount of respect for DR and do think he has had a positive impact on this team, but he isn't a starter and in terms of his on the field contribution could easily be replaced (fair enough?,) plus he's an outstanding representation of a college athlete, so I doubt the NCAA would do anything anyway. Not taking a jab at DR, just goes to show what a sham the NCAA is in terms of how they punish, who they punish, and how they make their rules. Their punishments just seem reactionary and a last ditch effort to appear dignified.

The fact that they immediately took down Johnny Manzeil t-shirts from their website that they were selling and profiting from because one guy called them out on twitter for it, if that's not basically admitting to fraud its pretty close.

I hope not. Wounded Warrior organization is corrupt.

I'd imagine it also has to do with the fact the the book is

sport-related income for him. Plenty of players get paid for jobs that are not sport-related.

I only know this because I just read up on the NCAA regulations the other day.... after the news about Gurley surfaced. But it said something along the lines of... players can earn or receive income from a company or corporation for any talent/ability, so long as that talent/ability is not related to their athletic ability or performance.
