Just wondering something about Dabo.

I don't know what he is thinking or what his plans are. I'm sure he has some and is probably already implementing them.
But, I wonder if he is waiting until the carousel stops (to see if Elliott leaves) before making any public statement.
I keep looking for David Hood to post something about "Dabo press conference" or "Dabo will address the media..."
Once again, not questioning or doubting Dabo, just eager to hear his comments.

1. Dabo certainly has plans for the current situation, and I'm sure he updates them often. I agree that he is likely already proceeding to implement these plans. 2. He might, indeed want to see if TE gets a HC offer before finalizing a DC deal. Personalities matter, and the DCs need to be compatible. He might also be able to get a "package deal" if he needs two hires. 3. He probably wants to make sure he knows ALL of the coaches that might be available before making a choice.
The main thing we all need to keep in mind is that Dabo built the previous program from virtually nothing. He's got a much better starting point now to rebuild it. I trust him to get it done... at his own pace.

You aren’t wrong but keep in mind hiring a coordinator is walking a fine line. Clemson pays with the best of them so the money is good but it’s not head coach good. The best HCs are looking for program upgrades. The best coordinators are looking HC gigs. So you are really shopping for a positional coach, an up and coming coordinator or a failed HC. It’s a balancing act.

and move on. Saban does it all the time.
I don't think we're a program that should "settle" just b/c somebody may take the next best thing..........get the best...period.
I think this will be a huge test for Dabo to prove that he can sustain an elite program regardless of what coordinators come & go b/c other than early 2010s he hasn't had much of that kind of turnover.

Here's the thing...nothing gets by Dabo.

That's one thing about Dabo that you need to know. His reputation has always been one of a fastidious student of detail. There ain't no way he hasn't been planning for Brett's departure for a long time. Honestly, he is probably shocked that it took so long. But Brett leaving for OU did not catch him offgaurd, and the wheels were in motion already to replace him as well as slap gauze on the recruiting issues him leaving presented. Look here:
"No, no I had no contact with Oklahoma from my standpoint. Talked to Oklahoma, but not for me."
https://twitter.com/gmraynor/status/1467612964396142598
And this is probably AFTER Brett told him he was looking to leave. IMO, this has been cooking for months and it just so happened that OU opened up. Otherwise, it probably happened next year.
Yeah yeah yeah. We're going to lose a guy in recruiting here and there as it happens with any coaching change, especially with a personality like Brett's...but I gaurantee the message to recruits this last week was -- "HOLD TIGHT. Don't make any decision just yet. Wait until you see what's coming next."
There is no reason to freak out. This isn't LSU or FSU or Miami. We pay. We play. We live in God's country. We're a dream destination for any coordinator college or pro. If Alabama can still win with a revolving door like they have, you better believe a program that has a culture that KEEPS coaches is going to be PRIME RIB for anybody worth a salt lick who wants to get with the elite of the elite.
So the message here is what it was for the recruits. HOLD TIGHT. Don't make a post just yet. Wait till you see what's coming next.
Hold on boys. This is tiger football. And we're just getting started.

I can guarantee you Dabo knew OU was interested before Brent knew, and I betcha Dabo told OU everything they needed to hear to get BV the OU head coach position!

Even while being in Vegas the weekend through tomorrow, I assure you that Dabo has been on the phones working through this transition. I hate losing Brent and I do not think the next DC will be as sold as Brent, I dont expect a big dropoff at all.
