Yeah those two not getting 5* is laughable. We’ll see how this defensive class preforms doesn’t the road.
Now his post has some accuracy. Offense is winning championships and we only have Vizzina that moves the needle. I’m not all to impressed with our WRs. They remind me of the same caliber of the collins boys. Both 4* and had some good offers but not elite and elite offensive talent is needed to win NC.
Now maybe we get lucky like 2016 when we had a 4* in mike Williams that played up to 5* and 0* in Hunter Renfrow that played up to 5*. 2018 we had elite WR, and QB that was highly rated as recruits.

I like to go by the composite, even though it includes ESECPN. Woods is a composite 5*. Vizzina has dropped just outside at 39.

Look up the 2016 team and let us know how many 5* were on it. Keep in mind that’s 4-5 years of recruiting. Maybe slow your roll a bit. Think before you type.

Didn’t say they were a bunch of nobodies. Four 5* (DW was a 4* composite) is great. OP whining about no 5* (Clemson actually has 2 now). Point being, talent amassed on teams is a 4-5 year process. How many 5* will Clemson have next year? Well depends on who returns, who leaves, and if the 2 this year sign. Whatever the case it will be more than 2, not that 5 stars guarantee success.

Tigers took 9 three stars last year and it looks like 7 so far this recruiting season according to Rivals, you can't win national championships taking that many three stars unless you're signing 30 plus players, sooner or later you become a 8-9 win team every year without improved recruiting.

Based on what exactly?
Based on 24/7 we have increased our overall team talent every season with the exception of 2019.
Our rivals average star rankings are significantly higher than either of our recent national championship seasons.
We are still landing #1 QBs
Yes, DJ wasn't a generational QB and we missed on a couple of WRs but it isn't because we are not recruiting at an elite level across the board.

A 5 star player is only a fraction of a point different from a 4 star player based on "someones" subjective rating. It means nothing unless it translates to the field.
Final update rankings are done each year to review how the recruits impact team performance after the fact. For example the Clemson 2015 recruiting class was ranked #9 and when it was reviewed in 2019, the class was ranked #1 based on accomplishments.

It's based entirely on his size. He's 6'3", whereas the protypical lineman of his size is 6'6". For playing style, he looks phenomenal.

Once again let's just jump into the pond. First, Hunter Renfrow had no stars. A lot of Clemson studs were 4 or less when they came into the program. Look how many supposed 5 stars are in the portal and didn't make the cut. We have a 5 star transferring out. Bottom line, stars mean nothing. It's how you coach them up and the development of players. You can have all the stars you want, but the desire has to be there. Texas A&M had 8 five stars last class, look at their record.

"Stars mean nothing" is just a dumb statement. On average, 5 stars outperform 4 stars, who outperform 3 stars, and on down. Of course there are outliers, anomalies, and overlaps. But stars certainly mean a lot.
It's not the only measure, and it's not a guarantee. But it's not "nothing".
