when the students return there will be spikes on all campus' ... the questions that should be asked at that time is when does this impact football? Football no Football the same spikes are going to happen. Will the AD's and President's of schools monitor athletes and not schools? Will anyone even track this specifically? Will this be overwhelmed by the haters at ESPN and the rest of the media? They don't sound like they want football.
In reality we are no worse at this moment than the 2017-2018 Flu outbreak in terms of mortality and getting better weekly.... this is no longer a pandemic this is an epidemic.
Hope people; especially administrators, recognize its going to happen and are ready for the uptick and have protocols in place to handle it.
Bottom Line its going to happen either way, football won't be the trigger it will simply be the excuse.

I agree with what you have posted. My concern is, college students are going to be college students. There is no way that having thousands of college students together on a campus can be healthy. Only one or two who refuses to abide by the rules, no matter how unimportant they may seem, can cause the entire semester to be total chaos. Coaches can keep 100 players and their staff healthy simply by keeping them away from crowds. Do you think Clemson students will practice social distancing until this virus is gone. I don’t!

College students.
I know several clemson students who moved back to clemson last week.
They will be running around doing student stuff regardless of clemson not letting students back into dorms until sept.

Yeah, that 17/18 flu was responsible for 60,000 deaths in the US. Or about only 1/4 the deaths of Covid....even with containment measures. Without lockdown/limiting, it could easily be 2 million +deaths at this time (assuming the same mortality rates - doubtful because medical attention would not be the same - and a conservative 15X more cases).
The pandemic still applies since it is still world-wide. But if you feel the US has it cocked up, then the definition of and epidemic whereby the US is the community that can't control it, by all means call it an epidemic since the US is now the epicenter.

Problem is the numbers are so skewered that no one really knows how many have died from the virus . The numbers being put out are way to high from acutely deaths caused by covid.

We just opened schoools, one elementary school opened last last Tuesday, the entire second grade class quarinined by Wednesday, then shut down by Friday.

The average flu deaths are about 60,000 a year. The 600,000 + who died in 1917-1918 were mainly due to no antibiotics being available to treat the secondary pneumonia that can occur, plus the disruption of WW l.

Spiked golf shoes were a plot by the shoe companies and the flooring companies. Spikes obviously don’t lead to better golf since there are guys on tour shooting low 60’s in tennis shoes .
