we got too smart with COVID. By locking down, etc. we delayed the inevitable. He also was quick to add that while we could have had two waves instead of 4 (or however many we're going to have), if we had done less more people probably would have died.

Tough call though because less intervention = more deaths, more intervention = dragging out the crisis.

*sigh*

Right now, we have the highest infection rates. Last year at these type of infection rates a lot of states shut down to "save lives". For example, my state shut down, but lost more lives than any state around us that didn't lock down. Pennsylvania is the outlier in they locked down and barely have less death/capita.

Its a clown car show.

Appears to have gotten better since. But they are in the Northeast corner of the state, not too far from NYC. It was crazy in spring 2020.

that all healthcare workers get vaccinated and cut staff.....then scream that hospitals are overrun and healthcare workers are exhausted due to COVID spikes.

How about you dont throw down mandates and you have all your workers, thus not creating the issue.

exhausted before the vaccines, before covid even. In fact, there has been a nursing shortage in the US for a decade now.

20% of nurses quit in the past year, the remaining inadequate nurses we had, before the vaccine requirement. So don't act like that's the cause.

Biden announced (to most people's surprise) the vaccine mandate on September 9, 2021.

Shall we go back further? Been a nursing shortage for many years before covid.....

No, I think nurses are burnt out, can't keep up with demand, and frankly are sick and tired of caring for people who don't care about themselves.

What's the excuse going to be for other industries that are looking at losing a significant amount of their workforce over the mandate, I wonder?

Yes the mandates made the problem worse. Imagine you are a nurse working long hard hours taking care of Covid patients for over a year. You put your own health at risk every day. Somewhere in the process you actually get Covid, recover , and go back to work again working long hours. Then along comes a mandate that says you’re taking the shot or you are fired. You say “I’ve already had Covid “. They say “ screw your natural immunity, take the shot”. You say “screw it I quit “
