health insurance company can eat a bag of #####

Jun 4, 2022, 4:54 PM

I guess having a major infection that doesn't respond to antibiotics, then having an outpatient procedure to drain the infection, then developing a high fever, and sepsis, and then being admitted to the hospital, and then having a major surgery to cut out and remove ALL the infected tissue, guess that's not medically necessary. JFC......

They denied the ER visit even. I have discharge instructions after it was drained to GO STRAIGHT TO THE ER if you get fever. Well, 103 fever and here I am. ###?

We got to fix this crap. Coverage sucks but premiums are outrageous. Something is bad wrong and it ain't the providers.

Will the doctors office/hospital handle the appeal for you?

Did they code something wrong?

There is a time limit, like 3 months or 6 months for an appeal.

Make sure the doctors office is meeting the timeline.

I have the ER doctors notes

Deemed it medically necessary, as what I had could be life threatening and the treatment would require a hospital stay and monitoring. I needed IV antibiotics, and those require constant bloodwork to make sure my kidneys don't fail. Furthermore, after admission a urologist looked at it and said it would have to be cut out asap, so surgery, within 3 hours of urologist seeing it I was in the OR being cut.

I probably had a quart or two of vancomycin, and some other antibiotics as well.

I would have thought this wouldn't even be a question, really.

That's borderline criminal.***

You can’t shove random objects in your poop shoot and expect someone else to pay for the issues that ensue.

And yes. Insurance companies are evil.

according to insurance companies, death is an option

Jun 4, 2022, 6:59 PM

and sometimes that's the cheaper route and you're being selfish for not taking it.

Worker's comp pays you a maximum of about $430,000

Jun 4, 2022, 7:40 PM

for death benefits. BUT, if you live and end up like Christopher Reeve or something, they can pay 5, 10, even $20 MILLION in medical care. Most expensive I've worked on was a $10 million claim. Would be $200K if the guy just died.
