you can always count on the AJC for anything negative about Clemson. They revel in it.

They Carvel in it.***

Whats wrong with it?

Apr 29, 2013, 10:11 AM

He was very complimentary of Clemson and coaching staff. He just chose a different opportunity.

If anything, it probably hurt the AJC to have to publish something from a recruit that was praising Clemson so much.

sounded pretty positive to me. There wasn't a negative Clemson statement made. He mentioned the mass exodus of commits...but, it's true. Thought Jenkins was very complimentary and stand-up about it.

There is nothing "complimentary and stand upish" about turning your back on a school that was committed to you when no other big names were at the table. Then one comes a long and you ditch out leaving us in a bind that late in the process. He should have decommitted months before he did so that we could find a replacement. He didn't and used us as his fall back.

Im not even mad about losing the player. By all accounts he was one of the most overrated players on our board.

Coty Sensabaugh did the same thing in our favor. Nobody complained.

We try to talk committed kids out of their commitments every day. Nature of the beast.

He was a huge Tenn fan growing up

Apr 29, 2013, 10:34 AM [ in reply to Re: Ryan Jenkins on decommitting from CU & committing to TN ]

and he didn't get an offer until the coaching change. Sounds like the coaches were kept up to date on the whole thing.

If you were a lifelong Clemson fan and they didn't offer you until the last minute would you turn down the offer?

Re: He was a huge Tenn fan growing up

Apr 29, 2013, 11:25 AM

That's exactly what it sounded like - he was holding out hope for a chance to go to the school he grew up a fan of, and just couldn't turn it down.

I thought the kid did an outstanding job in that interview; I dislike him a lot less now.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what Jenkins says isn't bad at all...

Apr 29, 2013, 12:19 PM [ in reply to Re: Ryan Jenkins on decommitting from CU & committing to TN ]

but I can see how some people would be pissed about Carvell's focus on the decommitment in the article, and about Carvell's talking about the other decommitments. All in all, though, it's nothing to get upset about.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can certainly understand how he feels

Apr 29, 2013, 10:19 AM

I dont think anything nefarious went on like what did with RN and Demarcus Robinson.

It did put us in a tough spot so late in the process, but Dabo did what he does best and we got Kyrin Priester instead. Pretty comparable players, but Ky has a little better size.

Why would we put our best corner

Apr 29, 2013, 10:53 AM

On a marginal receiver?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He wasn't going to be a star for us anyway.

Apr 29, 2013, 10:59 AM

We got a better one instead (Priester) and Jenkins got to go to his dream school. Everyone wins.

As for changing his mind late in the process, I don't think he was being dishonest with us or trying to be a jerk. His circumstances changed and he made the best decision for him.

I hope we DON'T play against him and the Vols any time soon

Apr 29, 2013, 11:19 AM

The way that program is going, if we play them in the next few years that means we have slipped to a weaker bowl. No more Music City Bowl

more sweeter.

Oh and good luck on building that bussiness before you graduate, Ryan.

Why does he keep saying it was a "business decision"?

Apr 29, 2013, 12:29 PM

I don't get it. Sounds like it was a sentimental decision, not educational, not title-achievability, not developmental.

But he keeps repeating "It was a business decision."

What gives?

Apr 29, 2013, 1:15 PM

You know what he means. He made the decision that he felt was best for himself. That decision isn't a reflection on Clemson, the coaches, players, and fans.

Apr 29, 2013, 4:42 PM [ in reply to Why does he keep saying it was a "business decision"? ]

Hello? If it had been a real "business decision" there would have been a contract and he wouldn't have been able to weasel out of it without a judgment against him. That's how REAL "business" works.
