Virginia Tech has strong interest in Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson to be the next head Hokie, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.
Clawson is an established and well-traveled head coach, still in the prime of his career at 54 years old.

Yes he will because the fan support is night & day, WinstonSalem doesn’t have many real fans, VT does & he could recruit so much better. I think it’s a good move for bothe Dave & VT.

I believe it was @colberttiger that posted last week an article on wake's offense and what Clawson has done. Point being, it sounded like he was mighty happy at wake and didn't have any intention on leaving.
He just got 20 million to upgrade facilities... Which in wake $$$'s is huge when you consider he can build on that 20 mil with some other donor money.
A 100 million 10 year contract is very intriguing but just don't see him leaving.

but I think VT can do better. That is a very good job, great recruiting base, tradition and fan support. They play in the Coastal with only one traditional power (Miami) who hasn't been able to put it together since Butch Davis left. If they reestablish their recruiting power in the DMV then watch out.
I think they are better served going after some bigger names first. And I'd probably take Hugh Freeze over Clawson and Napier just might bite on this job.

If Beamers son had just had a good season they would pluck him away from coot country but we know that may never happen.
I’m tired of Clemson fans saying we will lose to coots this season! Let’s be fans & believe ever Tiger will always fight for us to beat the coots no matter what!

This seems to be someone that the press is pushing more so than what I have read on the VT boards. Freeze has the coaching chops, but way too much baggage. Mark my words, though, someone will take him soon if he keeps winning at the clip he is.
I'm not sure Clawson will leave Wake, frankly, and if he did could he replicate what he's doing there at VT?
VT fans thought Whit Babcock had hit a homerun with Fuente', and taking you guys to the end of the ACCCG in 2016 before losing just emboldened that impression, but it has been a steady downhill slide since. VT fans said Babcock's last hire better be right when he replaced Buzz Williams, the basketball coach, and Mike Young has been maybe the best coaching hire at VT, at least so far, since Frank Beamer.
I just hope Babcock can pull another rabbit out of his hat this time.

Head coaches have to know "when to hold'em and when to fold'em." It might be an ideal time for DC to fold'em and take VT's $$$. He should be able to negotiate a hefty salary.
