That sucks. SOunds like we are done with IMG. Kind of a school you want to have their players into Clemson.

Don't be surprised ig the IMG HC is sent packing, Dabo has many friends in high places!!! He has in a distant pass had a Highway patrolman looking for employment!!!

So their commits drop Clemson at the 11th hour and somehow we are the bad guy for not traveling that same road again.

Is there an age limit on NIL activity? IMG's of the world are prime to profit from 'shipping and handling' of 15-18 year-olds now.

It is called Venables leaving.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The OP references a QB, not a defensive player.

Feb 14, 2022, 8:55 PM

The guys who deserted us this year probably did leave because we lost Venables.

But honestly, we really have not gained a lot of benefit from courting guys at IMG.

Xavier Thomas is probably our most successful example.

This is just a personal opinion, but guys who leave their HS treat mates and programs don’t demonstrate a great deal of loyalty to begin with.

As I say, that’s just my personal take.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

100% Agree

Feb 15, 2022, 5:53 PM

I agree one hundred percent; a kid that can leave the hometown/school there childhood friends are likely still in are "probably ME-guys"!
Not saying it's a rule or that's a way you should define them all; but where there is smoke!

I am still holding out hope that former Hartsville, SC high 4-star standout Demonte Capehart can get healthy and get on the field. He in my opinion has a chance to be special!

Someone started a rumor of him transferring who was supposedly from Hartsville about two months ago. Unless I missed it; if he is still on the roster and healthy, I am loving our DT position and depth.

I think it's a little more. None of the "IMG 3" followed Venables. Also, Everette went to UGA and "stuck" with his commitment after their DC left for the Oregon HC position. I know the players are young but maybe IMG staff didn't give the advice Dabo expected?

Honestly…who cares..Literally no player we’ve gotten from IMG has been impactful or developed into a super start.

Feb 14, 2022, 8:57 PM

For them. Their loss. And I’m here for it. You don’t have multiple players from the same school decommit right before signing day without the coaching staff either encouraging it or at least not helping. Because of how we stop recruiting kids once we are full, a decomit hurts us worse than most schools. So I’m fine not recruiting IMG.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: this is terrible news

Feb 15, 2022, 9:24 AM

Hi Pork_Chop®, most of your post looks right, but the assertion that Clemson quits recruiting kids who have committed is false.

Clemson keeps on these committed kids ... including the IMG 'commits' via frequent and ongoing contact.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: this is terrible news

Feb 15, 2022, 9:27 AM

I meant that once a kid commits to us, we assume he is committed and stop recruiting other players for that roster spot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Bad blood with IMG apparently

Feb 14, 2022, 8:59 PM

Getting to point that you have to be willing in this case to pay the coaching staff to get their players. Why did they set this IMG up to begin with- the money. Unfortunately there will be programs like Georgia, Auburn, LSU,Alabama, and now SC that will pay the piper. This type of thing along with NIL is destroying college football and basketball

I'm not sure how much interest we had in him to start with. He seems to be a heavy Gamecock lean at the moment. He is a 2024 prospect. Still plenty of time and options ahead.

Jayden Bradford offers from the following schools per 247Sports who also says he is at IMG now:

Coots
ECU
Ga State
Ga Tech
NC State
Vandy

Re: Bad blood with IMG apparently

Feb 14, 2022, 10:49 PM

So no one is going to bother looking at his 247 profile? Took me 2 seconds. He's crystal ball for USC and Dabo has said: "Kids in SC come up knowing from when they are young they are one or the other for Clemson or Carolina. We don't go up against each other in recruiting that often really. Instate kids already have an idea of which school they want to go to."

But go on making theories about how Dabo and staff hate IMG now. Ignore the fact Dabo went down there to try and save those decommits in the 11th hour before their tweets came out a few days later...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with Dabo’s statement.***

That whole deal smells bad imo. I know we lost a coach but all 4 flipping is odd to me. See 1 or 2 but all 4? It is what it is other IMG’s out there if you are wanting someone with that background. I say their loss.

Re: Bad blood with IMG apparently ... maybe

Feb 15, 2022, 9:31 AM

Just because Clemson quit recruiting Jaylen Bradford as a 2024 QB candidate does not mean for sure that Clemson has quit recruiting him.

It's still possible that Clemson was concerned about this guy as a 'team player' with his Chapin HS team, but were staying in contact with him while he was at Chapin to see if he would mature and be a leader of his team.

But seeing that he transferred and left his teammates would imply that the ex-Chapin QB had a lack of empathy for his teammates.

It also creates the impression that he'll switch schools whenever he gets in a snit or perceives opportunity elsewhere.

So it may not just be IMG ... but like everyone else I'm suspicious.
