Have an appointment with my doctor.

Aug 2, 2021, 6:00 PM

(Sorry, I know this is the wrong forum. But, I'm just looking for some advice. Hope y'all will forgive me for posting this here, but any advice would be appreciated.)

Last Thursday his office informed me that due to the current situation with COVID he was changing his recommendation. He is now recommending all patients, vaccinated and unvaccinated wear masks anytime they are indoors in a public space. Not recommending wearing a mask outdoors (unless in a crowd) or in your own home.

I try very hard to follow his recommendations. But, emotionally and psychologically, I am having a hard time doing that. (I was in a training session on Friday in a room with about 25 people. Meeting was from 9-3. By 2 PM I was emotionally very uncomfortable.)

I called his office this morning. Talked to one of his nurses, who has been in his office for at least 15 years. I told her I did not doubt my Dr. had valid medical reasons for making the recommendation. I also told her that I was finding it personally very difficult, emotionally and psychologically to follow his recommendations. I asked if I could come in and ask him a few questions for education purposes, not for argument sake. I just need the assurance that it is medically prudent for me to wear a mask in public.

Here are some questions I plan on asking him.
1. Am I wearing a mask to protect me or to protect others or both?
2. A virus is so much smaller than the holes in a mask. I still have a sense of smell when I wear a mask. (I can smell food, coffee, etc.) Does a mask really help? How?
3. Can I have the virus but still not have COVID? (Sorta like being a carrier where I can infect others.)
4. How effective is the vaccine against the Delta variant?
5. How contagious is the Delta variant? How deadly is it?
6. What is it going to take to get through this virus so that life can return to some form of normalcy?
7. I teach a Bible Study class on Sunday mornings. The room is about 30X30. It has a self-contained AC, not central AC. There are usually 12-15 people in the class. At least 3 are unvaccinated. Only 3 or 4 people will be wearing masks. (At least 2 of the unvaccinated will not be wearing masks.) How dangerous is this to those in the class, vaccinated and unvaccinated?
8. I attend a church where we meet in a room that is fire-code rated for 200. Our attendance is around 60. 90% of the people do not wear masks. How dangerous is this?

Any other questions I should be asking?

Not your doctor but I do know a virologist

Aug 2, 2021, 6:35 PM

and over the weekend I asked her some of the same questions.

1 both but mostly others, the mask’s primary function is to slow the spittle droplets coming out of your mouth/nose so they don’t travel to others but it can stop droplets from others in close proximity that are not wearing masks

2 the virus is not transmitted by itself but in water droplets that the mask stops or slows. If the virus dries out it dies which is why you don’t see surface transmission and we don’t have to sterilize the mail, groceries etc

3 yes a symptomatic positives can be contagious

4 so far it has at the very worst lessened the impact of delta considerably she explained to me that the vaccines are designed to concentrate the development of antibodies in the organs, lungs, liver, kidney. What they are seeing with the delta variant is the virus gets a stronghold in the nose and throat producing severe cold-like symptoms but not causing blood clots or damaging heart/lung etc like it can in the unvaccinated
They are working on a nasal spray version that could be a booster vaccine to boost antibodies in the nose and throat

5 because it concentrates in the nose and throat it can be more easily spread

6 we need for a very significant percentage of the population to get vaccinated before a resistant variant develops

7&8 really depends on the ventilation system

We are back to wearing masks indoors in common areas at work and bi monthly testing until they get bipolar ionizers in the AC units because a large number of the folks have children too young to get vaccinated or family members that can’t take the vaccine for one reason or an other. Once they the ventilation fixed, they say we’re back to no masks

Definitely talk to your doctor- you don’t know me from anywhere - wearing a mask sucks, but I’ve got mine on lanyards and put them on every morning just like I used to tie a tie around my neck. Your doctor may have strategies for the psychological aspect. It’s very strange, I taught as an adjunct at the local college last spring face to face and I never saw my students faces. Really hard to make a connection

Every time a virus replicates in a host, it has an opportunity to mutate. Some of those mutations may be vaccine-resistant. More vaccinated people = less opportunity to mutate b/c antibodies stop the replication process and thereby reduce the opportunity for mutation.

That is a great post and can't have enough TU.

Yes, the vaccinated population is basically providing the virus an unprotected home base to evolve and mutate towards the vaccinated population.

I like to use the example of flipping three quarters.

Take three quarters and flip them. If heads, flip three MORE quarters again per headsup coin. If tails do not flip a coin.

Thus if all heads, flip a coin 9 times. If two, flip 6 coins, if 1 coin, flip 3 coins. Continue until you successfully flip all tails for all coins. This is what we need to be working towards. With a vaccinated population, add an additional 3 coin flips per head result. For example, 2 heads up would be a 12 coin flip.

This is basically a 100% population with a 50% vaccination efficacy rate with a transmission population of 3. Note, that this resistance (.5 is lower that 70% of the population at 90% efficacy... which would be .63... but if Covid only infected 3 people per cycle, it would not be as big an issue)

Wear a mask my friend, especially if you are in an area with high transmission rates. It protects you and others. There is a reason doctors wear masks in surgeries. It prevents the spread of viral and bacterial germs. Get vaccinated. It should keep your rear end out of the hospital. Remember, the Lord helps those who help themselves. Hope this helps. What you literally just said makes ZERO SENSE and has zero logic or fact behind it. You've simply been conditioned and have no ability to have your own thoughts anymore - that much is obvious when you make statements like that. All you know how to do is parrot the TV, no matter how many times it's caught lying to you - we call that Stockholm syndrome btw. Look it up. Umm, Doctors and nurses wear masks to protect against spit and blood. If you think ANY of these mask do anything for a virus than you're revealing your ignorance and blindness to simply doing what you're told without a thought of your own. I highly advise you research what a virologist wears to not get infected by a virus, then perhaps research how a virus works...then you'll realize you've been completely scammed because of your ignorance. Even the side of the #### box (blue mask etc) come in says IT DOES NOTHING for a virus, and yet the sheep still put them on. Meanwhile it's destroying your immune system and giving you cancer...all for a virus with a death rate about the same as the sniffles. Fact, just do the math and stop listening to your TV, if you haven't figured it out yet, it's run by people with an agenda and has done nothing but lie to you your entire life. What happened to the flu btw?! LOL, people are so beyond stupid it's down right frightening. It's all there, all the facts, if you have the ability to think for yourself and do your own research. Sheep gonna sheep sadly. Perhaps this is nothing more than a natural selection event, we know that both Gates and Fauci have said for decades they're going to depopulate the world using vaccines. Guess we're seeing their life's ambition come to fruition at the price of the sheep. Knowledge is power. Think for yourself. It's not a pandemic, ne ver was, just do the math. Just because your TV said it was doesn't make it so. FACT.

Side bar as I'm sure this is going to rattle some of you...cognitive dissonance at work. Go back and look at the mask mandates for when the states were telling you NOT TO WEAR A MASK. I'll use California, the mandate said not to wear a mask because: 1) it does nothing for a virus, 2) it'll actually spread viruses, 3) it's is highly dangerous and deadly for your health. LOL...and then one day when it became a political and fear weapon they said "wear the mask to stop the spread and save lives"...and all the little sheep just put them on, not even once thinking about the fact they were just told the opposite. Likely because as I've said, they no longer know how to think for themselves, they simply do whatever their TV tells them. So so sad. WTFU people before it's too late.

Re: Have an appointment with my doctor.

PS

If you're so inclined to leave sheepdome, maybe read the Stanford/NIH study from about 2 months ago...in short: mask do nothing for a virus but are giving you cancer, etc etc. Then go read about what a virologist wears to not be infected...then you're going to feel awfully stupid you never thought for yourself. Knowledge is Power. Think for yourself and turn off your TV. #scamDEMic and nothing more. Simple fact, a virus is microscopic, the actual sizing/scale of any mask (including N95) and a virus is akin to a mosquito and a chain link fence. That's a simple fact and likely why there's never been one peer reviewed study showing a mask works for a virus. No need to, it's not even a scientific question, you ain't stopping a mosquito with a chain link fence, a mask (any mask) isn't stopping a virus. As one virologist said, the way to tell of a mask works for a virus, if you can breath with it on, it doesn't work for a virus. Wake up Sheeple.

Please don’t say “the Lord helps those who help themselves”. This has absolutely nothing to do with Covid. If you can find that quote in scripture, I’ll withdraw my comment. The Lord helps those whom he has mercifully called to himself. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The Lord loves humility and a contrite heart, not a prideful heart that thinks it has somehow earned his favor by doing good. Our absolute best is filthy rags in his sight. God bless you, but that statement is terribly misleading and false.

Aug 2, 2021, 7:07 PM

First of all, it IS NOT a vaccine. Sadly people are lining up to be lab rats, ignorantly and unknowingly. It is NOT FDA approved. It is a deadly and dangerous experimental shot. Case and point, in the fist 4/5 months of the stab, more people have died from it than ALL other vaccines combined, over the last 20 years combined! These poor fools lining up to get the deadly jab have no idea that they are the experiment/lab rats. Secondly, you can still "get covid" and can still spread it...now have to wear a mask, etc. so what the hell was the purpose?? It's such a joke, the fact that people haven't seen through the BS at this point is frightening. The level of sheep out there is simply a sad state of affairs for humanity. No one knows how to think for themselves anymore, they simply do, think, and believe whatever the TV tells them. It takes 2 brain cells and about 2 minutes of research to know a mask DOES NOTHING for a virus. NOTHING. It does however spread viruses and destroy your health. Masks cause cancer, sinus infections, eye infections, tooth decay, and absolutely annihilate your immune system. FACT. It is not a pandemic, never was, just do the simple math, turn off your TV and think for yourself. The truth is all out there if you can break free from your programming, conditioning, and brain washing. Watch for it, some of us have known since day one it was all a hoax and scamDEMic...that HCQ is a wonder drug for coronaviruses (don't believe me, ask or read Fauci's 2005 report on HCQ where he said it was a wonder drug for coronaviruses, as it is both a prophylactic and cure/vaccine. It's been around for 70+ years and is safer than aspirin and Tylenol...hence why "they" attacked it as they did (follow the money), with a therapeutic big Pharma would not have gotten an EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) whereby they were able to cut every safety corner to get a "vaxx" out. At some point what for it, HCQ and Ivermectin will be announced as therapeutics and the EUA will be removed and they'll yank the "vaxx" off the market as it's too dangerous to humans. People (or perhaps I should say the sheep's) heads will explode when they realize what they've done...hopefully (and sadly as it will be too late for many) that'll finally get people to realize their TV, and all of those at the top (1%/Left) have been lying to them about everything, and people will FINALLY wake TFU. Until then, turn off your TV, think for yourself, and do your own research...at this point, your life is dependent on it.

Aug 2, 2021, 8:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Have an appointment with my doctor. ]

Ok, so many things here, where to begin. It’s not experimental. It was when it was in the trials, but now it’s been approved for emergency use. Next: people are not dying of the vaccine. In order to prove that, there must be an autopsy to rule out natural causes, such as a heart attack, stroke, infection, pulmonary embolus, etc. Once all those, and other possibilities such as suicide, homicide, if the vaccine remains a possibility then it’s an adverse event that’s reported to the CDC. If people were dying from the vaccine, medical examiner’s offices would be overrun with autopsies, but they’re not. Because people are dying from the virus, in hospitals, with makeshift morgues outside, and not lining up at the MEs offices.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A couple things…

1

Aug 2, 2021, 8:56 PM

Dying is not the only aversion to the vaccine.

Also…
You say “people are not dying from the vaccine…”
That may very well be true.
But are we also taking into account the percentage of people dying “from Covid” who were unhealthy before they got the virus?

Let’s just be fair here.

I did get vaccinated, because I am over 70, but I also take ivermectin weekly...have been since early December! I also take a high level dose of Vitamin D3...8000 iu daily!

Yes, ask him if he can answer over one or two of your questions with facts or is he just speculating due to a lack of proven info.

Good question. He has been my primary care physician for over 35 years. He is highly respected in our community. Since the virus first became public knowledge, about January of 2020, he and I have discussed it several times. He has always used science and accurate data and valid research in making his decisions. He, like I, has very strong political opinions. But, he is looking at COVID as a medical issue, not a political one.

One of my very big frustrations with COVID is it has become far more a political issue than a medical one to almost everyone. It is virtually impossible to have a rational discussion with anyone about the issue. Both sides seems to throw out "facts" that have no scientific data to support them. (Just look at this thread.) That is why I was hesitant to post my question here. I know it is a very emotional issue. People have drawn their conclusions and - on both sides - justify their conclusions based on their political viewpoint.

I trust my Dr. I just want to get educated.

My "emotional and psychological problems" are based on I'm just tired of being around people who are putting themselves and others in danger because of their political views. I don't like to discuss politics on message boards, especially one where I am a guest, But - this may help you understand where I'm coming from - I'm a conservative, very conservative, politically. (I voted for Ted Cruz in the Republican primary.) I'm tired of my conservative friends laughing at anyone who wears a mask, who think that the vaccine is more dangerous than COVID, and think that COVID is just a tool to scare people into giving up all their freedoms and turning us into a Marxist state. The attitude is, "If you think COVID is real, then you are a pinko commie." I try to explain why I take the virus seriously, and the conversation quickly evolves into an argument. I'm just tired of all the fighting and arguing.

The virus obviously exists, and can be serious in some cases…

But why do you think Fauci sent our money to the Wuhan lab to develop the virus and then told us it came from someone eating a bat?

Think they just did it to goof around and have fun?

Not a weirdo conspiracy theory. It is FACT.

You're exactly right...

Hey Bret. I talked with my Doc the other day. I never quit wearing a mask since February 2020. I'm now able to get the N95 fitted masks and have for 8+ months. He said any mask will help from potential of getting a large viral load. Said I would increase my chances greatly by wearing the N95 even with closed places but did advise being in closed crowded places with poor ventilation. It's a hassle and not very comfortable for long periods of time. I'm comfortable indoors with my women's group because we're all vaxed. Yes, we agreed to share our vax cards for proof. But that's just me, I choose to be cautious. I just think it's very selfish for someone that won't wear a mask out of compassion for their fellow human being.

I've read the studies, talked to other medical personnel and I've yet to come across any of them that have said wearing a mask is bad for one's health.

Incidentally, Our preacher won't make a public stance but we did go to a Saturday evening service for those that prefer masks. Turned out to be a popular move. We also set up bible studies in our gym and distanced the chairs. Hth in a small way.

No need for anyone to reply or try to debate. I will not respond and have zero desire to debate your stance.

He want have time or take the time to answer all those question. Mask do not work because the virus is smaller than the holes in your mask. The mask will take your identity away from you. Spend time outside, play in the dirt, exercise and take xinc/magnesium supplements.

I'm sorry, but masks do work .... some better than others ........ if worn correctly. Are they 100% effective .... well no, but there is a reason that doctors always wear them in surgery, or why your dentist and dental hygienist wear them. They are primarily to keep you from spreading the virus, but are helpful in you getting it also. How is the mask going to take your identity away? Use common sense. I don't wear one when inside in a place like Lowes, or Home Depot where I can distance myself from people, but is real close quarters I will wear one.

I am done arguing over the efficiency of masks, lockdowns, removal of civil rights, etc. I do have a question to pose: at what point do we stop letting a virus control our lives, and enjoy whatever amount of time we may have left on this earth? It is almost laughable that for close to two years we have let something so silly control us, crash our economy, and render many Americans terrified to go outside or to talk to their neighbor for fear of contracting the virus. I've had it, and it barely affected a single facet of my daily life, outside of having a stuffy nose. Why have we regressed to the point that we no longer want to enjoy life, and would rather stay inside of our homes and away from people? There are millions of other diseases, viruses, incidental happenings that could kill us on a daily basis, but we don't pay them any mind? I think I speak for a large majority of the population when I say we are unbelievably tired of the hysteria surrounding covid, and we no longer want to engage in debate, discussions, or even hear about it anymore. We all want to live a normal life without having vaccine information crammed down our throat, covid case numbers, and "death" totals. Lets all get back to life as it was. Thanks.

I understand your point. No one wants to "forget about it and just live my life normally" any more than I do. For reasons I will not go into, living for the several months before their was a vaccine was extremely difficult for me.

If I were the only person who could possibly contact the disease, that is exactly what I would do - live my life and take my chances.

But, what about my wife, my family, my friends, those I come in contact with? Am I risking their health by my actions? How slim, or great, are the probabilities that I might infect others? Is it the same as being struck by lightening or is it the same as running a red light at 2:00 AM? The reason the probability for me to get struck by lightening is so low is because I don't play golf when lightening is in the area (or do any other activity).

And, what about others actions. If I see a friend of mine walking across a street in heavy traffic am I just supposed to sit and watch and say, "Well, its his body, his choice"?

The point is, I don't know the answers to the questions I am going to ask. I would like to know the answers so I can make an informed and rational decision, not one based on political viewpoints or a self-centered search for pleasure.

The most important supplement to take is Vit D3...at least 5000 IU per day!
