Gamecock Confidence. Is it just me?

Nov 22, 2017, 10:26 PM

The over confidence of the Gamecock fans and team this week is surprising. I can’t remember them being this confident and chirpy in a while. Not a word of disrespect or trash talk from the Clemson Team.

Sometimes I think trash talk is actually to make up for lack of confidence

That's all it is, they are trying to build themselves up in believing they can win, cause deep down they know it'll take every unrealistic thing to happen for it to happen. We just do our talking on the field. You know they're reaching for something when they have to start using when we took our timeouts last year as motivation.

But it could happen. So they have that going for them. Which is nice. ***

the numbers don't lie

the 104th ranked offense (facing the 58th best schedule) vs the 7th ranked defense (facing the 4th best of schedule) is a complete mismatch. I really think there's a strong possibility of a shutout to be honest. I remember Miami 2 years ago tried the chippy act to try and intimidate Clemson and it completely backfired.

There will not be a shutout as they will have trick plays like last year, but I see a goo beat down with them scoring 2-3 times.

They are drunk on their win count. They all thought they would win 4 games but have doubles that due to the complete incompetence of their opponents. It's gone to their heads. I think they will be more competitive but I also think it may be more of a shock to the fans to see their team get dismantled at home after having such high hopes.

Eventually they will see they've only beaten one P5 team with a winning record, maybe, and realize it was inevitable.

I was actually just reading over a post on Facebook from the SEC and the Coots were all over it beating their chest about being 24th. They really truly think they are a good team. Apparently 52% of the money in Vegas is on South Carolina straight up. I personally just don't see it. Our D line is gonna live in their backfield.

I am sure that the straight up bet has to do with the Money Line which is basically setting odds. Right now ESPN shows that at Clemson -550 and Carolina at +400. If you bet $100 dollars on both teams then you get $400 if Carolina wins, but only $18 or so if Clemson wins. More of Clemson money will naturally go to the spread because of that.

Precisely - same song different verse. Year in and year out. Overcootfident as usual.

Go Tigers!!!

It’s not that shocking when immediately following the stomping last year, their high school qb came out of the game at half time for his own safety, then proceeded to say we weren’t that much better if at all. Sometimes you can’t debate with stupid, I think that makes for the lack of trash talk from Clemson.

Re: Gamecock Confidence. Is it just me?

I can’t remember them having a QB with such a big mouth. JB has them all worked up. But if he is the best to ever play in cootsville you might as well take a hammer and bash George Rogers Heisman Trophy. Bentley is no where near a HT candidate and never will be.

He is Texas A&M’ version of Johnny Manziel. He throws up a lot of prayers and can be careless with his passes.

The coot fans think he is there great hope. But he has struggled against average defenses and has difficulty recognizing different defensive sets and coverage. He is also hyped up by ESPN because their is not much else to get excited about in cootsville. The announcers have to find some way to kill air time when the coots are playing teams in chaos like Tenn, Fla., Vandy, and other teams in the anemic SEC East. The coots are 8-3 and think that they have actual won all those games. Some of those games were handed to the coots by poor play by the other team. N.C. State for example.

We will see what they are made of Saturday and then in their bowl game. This year I believe I could have coached them to 7 or 8 wins!

lose. . .chatter like theirs this week usually comes when a team is trying to convince themselves of something.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They assume we will play like we did at Syracuse.

Nov 23, 2017, 8:04 AM

All I heard all week was how we got exposed at Syracuse. I asked what they thought of our other 10 games, but they only wanted to talk about Syracuse. I think we win by 24.

Re: They assume we will play like we did at Syracuse.

Nov 23, 2017, 8:37 AM

I remember when they tried to copy Pitt last year and use that shovel pass, didn't work out so well for them. There's a reason the coaches and AP didn't vote them in the top 25. They can actually see they've only beaten 1 div 1 team with a winning record and struggled with most of the rest. All their record shows is they are alil better than below avg teams, but not as good as above avg teams and better.....which means they are once again just mediocre.

In spite of winning, the team and the vast majority of fans know that they are nearly as good as they would like to think.

Re: Gamecock Confidence. Is it just me?

Nov 23, 2017, 9:28 AM

None of my coot friends think they have a shot. Real life friends and Facebook friends all seem to think Clemson will run the ball with consistency and they will not. I haven't talked to one yet that legitimately thinks they will win

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Syracuse Game and NC State Games give them Hope

Nov 23, 2017, 9:36 AM

Our guys have to let them know that hope is false.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A 14 point underdog winning at home is not unprecedented

Nov 23, 2017, 11:51 AM

Being hopeful a team can win is not the same as thinking they'll win, and certainly doesn't mean that team is the better team.

I've seen few South Carolina fans predicting a win, but are impressed with the toughness of the team. A win would be surprising, but the South Carolina team will play tough and won't make it easy like last year's game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The coots at work all this week were gloating like

Nov 23, 2017, 3:17 PM

it's a women's basketball match coming up on Saturday.

They think we're going to get blown out. "Boom has something up hos sleeve."

They are banking on if Syracuse can do it so can we.
I don't think a Dabo coached team will ever play that bad again.
They don't even realize the Cuse game is the worst thing that could have happened to them
