So, what shape would SC be in now IF they stayed in ACC & hadn't

Joined SEC..where they've not been highly relevant overall..except for some every other year upset & one trip to the SEC final where they got blown out of ATL.
What say you? I say they would be a NCSt type program if still in the ACC considering none of the unreal abundance of SEC cash & national recognition would be there.
One HC got them to that glory land for 3-5 years but they practically sold their souls to acquire it..and when it ended he left a mess in coaching staff & player attrition.

Win - loss record no different.
Bank account smaller.
Still would be the door step in all sports except donkey riding and baseball.

Actually, at the time they left the ACC , they were a power in basketball. They made a huge mistake getting out of the ACC. As soon as they got out, Frank McGuire, could no longer recruit. If they had stayed, they would have been really good in basketball because they had a pipeline of really good players coming from New York City. It was good for us they got out in terms of basketball. I hate USC, so I am glad they got out. They are so blinded with the SEC that they would never admit this. I think most of the other sports would be about the same

They should just join the Southern Conference and be done with it. They suck at stuff. PERIOD.
Oh wait - they would have to play The Citadel more often.

About the same. Still irrelevant, but at least over here they could say, "well at least our conference has smart players at more than one school" (which, in the secheat also, like the coots, never has amounted to squat).

Likely FSU would be in the SEC in their place

and Clemson would have about a dozen more ACC Championships.
I'd think SCAR would have probably stumbled into one or two themselves during that time (1972-present), probably during their 3 year mountaintop period.

true, but that ACC spot may not have been open

if SCAR was still around.
Just conjecture, don't take it as pinpoint logic. All kinds of things would have been different. Maybe GT would have never joined the ACC, who knows?

for 2015. They're a notch below NC State and BC, right above Wake Forest. Their position would be be no different than it is now.

I figure they would be more like Syracuse . They would be a bit better in basketball and what they have always been in football. -Esso

Actually, they'd just be supplying more ammo to the anti-ACC engine over star ESPN.

us . Look at all the cards stacked up against us in baseball, bball, and extra probation in football, and no telling what else. i hate the ACC. Maybe its a path for us to winn now but SEC would have been better in the short run and the long run. We could win there also and have more money. The good old boys of the old days were getting their palms greased to stay in the ACC. Deitzel with SC had the best idea to leave cause they were getting screwed too. Coach Howard was in too deep with the ACC to leave.
