Most days, I love what I do.
The kids are still generally good, at least in my neck of the woods, but the level of distractions available to them is exponentially higher than anything I had to deal with growing up and it is noticed. Access to easy ways to cheat have complicated development of perseverance and coping with failure.
The lockdowns and Covid protocols have hampered learning for the vast majority of students (yes, some are delightfully self-motivated learners) and I fear we are going to be dealing with the fallout for at least a decade.
Yet, much like the football team, each fall is the opportunity for something new. We aren't tied to what happened last year and this new year becomes what we make of it.
Enjoy the summer, enjoy the sun, enjoy the time with family and friends, and then spot the ball!
