This salesman has gone 3-9, 3-7 and 3-9.
I'm no fan of Paul Johnson, but I wonder if GT didn't wish they hadn't let Paul Johnson go.. Unless they win 7 games next year, I think Collins is gone.

Have you been paying attention to some of the kids he has gotten and has coming? He's going to eventually have a roster full of his players.

I wouldn't say that. Not 10 years, Maybe 2-3 years....but that's really only on offense (most specifically QB, TE,....and WR to a lesser degree).
Further, he already had his kids this year. In the past 3 recruiting classes, he's already brought in 80 players between recruiting (62) and transfers (18).
2020 - 19 committed - (0 Transfer at this time) - 48th ranked (9th in ACC)
2021 - 16 committed (plus 10 transfers) - 48th ranked (9th in ACC)
2020 - 24 committed (plus 3 transfers) - 27th ranked (5th in ACC)
2019 - 22 Committed (plus 5 transfers) - 50th ranked (9th in ACC)
Given the fact the he didn't start with 0 players, as well, you would still expect to see progress after 3 years in the system. He's won 3 games each of the first 3 years.

Agree with your assessment of GA Tech's player-personnel situation, TigerCook®.
GA Tech gambled on the P.Johnson gimmick ... which worked when he had Chan Gailey's players. The lack of good new blood coming to the Flats spelled eventual after-thought status to the Yellow Jackets.
We'll see if the GA Tech AD and big shot boosters have the patience to see the G.Collins experiment through. Collins is a good coach, but he has got to be given time to figure out a way to win some games with his mediocre recruiting classes and then use his improved winning percentage to attract better recruits.
It may not happen, but GA Tech has got to give G.Collins several more years if they have any brains.

I liken him to Dabo!
I am keeping an eye on GT. The potential to be really good is there; because of the recruiting footprint GT is privileged to have.
Early on Dabo had to make some tough choices as well! Napier and Steele. Collins continues to recruit pretty well - if he gets the right coaches who aren't satisfied with just being okay; they can be a thorn in our side.

One would think GT would be a great job. However, academically, it's much tougher to get the best athletes in there, especially compared to many of the other schools in a 4 hour radius (Bama, Auburn, UGA, SC, FSU, UF, Clemson). The athletic department are not relaxing any of the requirements for admission.
Also, I don't think Geoff Collins is genuine. Comparing him to Dabo is crazy talk. With Dabo, there is a very real genuine person underneath. With Collins, so much of what he does feels fake. Feels like he says things b/c he thinks that's what will connect with kids, media and fans, but it doesn't feel like that's really him.

It's not the admission standards that are a killer, its the majors that are offered. Per the Tech course directory, all Majors require Differential Calculus. Yes, I took multiple semesters of Calculus at Clemson. There are many majors at Clemson where it is not required as is the case with most if not all other schools in the conference. Your choice of majors is limited and almost all are highly technical or engineering based at Tech. The NCAA says you have to show progression with a certain number of core hours passed each year to remain in school. Most of the Tech athletes major in Business but their are some engineers as well. Clemson is a fine school but there are some majors that don't require the same level of abstract thinking that the Tech crowd must contend with. Just a function of the curriculums that are offered.

Core math is typically loaded into the front end of a curriculum. To graduate they certainly have to pass it. How many times could they take it and drop is unknown to me but to enter a school knowing that you can't do the work to graduate would be a real downer. There are a couple other schools with the same issue and they don't have much in the way of football teams. Rice comes to mind. There is no easy button for the Tech students so the average UGA player is not going to be an academic fit there. Sorry, but the playing field is not level for all.

Academic issues more than any other ACC school including Duke because there are no majors to use to hide kids and graduate them without doing any work like Duke does.

He could always change their uniforms next year or adopt another catchy mark like the "ATL" or the "404". Needs to bring the weights back to the sideline too so they can lift during the game.

Collins is the biggest joke in the ACC. It doesn’t matter how many 4 stars he gets,he can’t coach them. They got rid of a coach who can win 7 games to get one who will never win 6. Here’s a bit of news, it doesn’t take 4 years to switch from triple option to a standard offense, Collins will be fired this time next year
