Groundhog Day...

Jan 30, 2021, 8:48 PM

It is appropriate that Tuesday is Groundhog Day since Clemson basketball under brownlee is the same miserable season year after year.

Clemson Basketball has never been a consistently successful program. At least what I can remember from Tates Lock, Bill Foster, Cliff Ellis, Oliver Purnell, Rick Barnes, and Brad Brownell.

Here is a little info that may changes some of the against Coach Brownell to supporting him.

The fact that brownlee is about the same or marginally better than other Clemson basketball coaches (while playing a much weaker ACC than Foster and Ellis faced) is no reason to keep him. Why have a basketball program if we are satisfied with the mediocre status quo?

Sure sign him to a 11 year extension. That should put the death knell in the men's basketball program. This team has more talent than any team he has coached at Clemson, and may be his worst coaching job. Make the change today not tomorrow.

Don't forget how and when this downward slide started. It wasn't from bad coaching. It was from a disruption caused by a virus that stopped everything. Have you ever been in a rhythm doing something, got interrupted and found it difficult when starting back up?

The schedule isn't being followed, opponents change, locations change. We just need to be glad there are sports of any kind right now.

We missed 9 days due to COVID. GT chewed us up and spit us out after missing 17 days. Georgetown looked good against Providence yesterday after a 3 week hiatus. If the players are motivated (one of the coaches job) during the off time, that motivation continues with the resumption of play. Missing 9 days (2 games) doesn’t suddenly make you bad shooters and and lackluster defensively.
