Great thing at the bball game last night

Dec 15, 2021, 10:50 AM

We went to the game last night and I was expecting the crowd to be small with the students gone and everything. But someone at Clemson did a great thing. The student section was about 3/4 full with what looked like elementary and middle school students. I’m talking many of them 10 and under. What a great idea. The kids appeared to have a blast and it added some noise and excitement to what I believe may have been a pretty quiet environment otherwise. Good job to whoever is responsible for this!
And ps - the teachers or chaperones that were with these kids don’t get paid nearly enough!

I remember my first experience at Clemson as an 11 year-old when I came to Littlejohn for the 1978 closed circuit telecast of the CU vs. Maryland game for the ACC football title. I had never attended a sporting event with so many people and the enthusiasm was incredible - not to mention the game.

You never know what kid there last night will one day attend Clemson like I did.

I was there last night too. Our first 3 baskets they cheered like crazy. Loved that they were given pom poms. They maintained a better level of enthusiasm than I expected for what was a pretty late night for some of them.

Go Tigers - past, present, and future!

Was wondering why they didn’t push the soccer trophy recognition to a big home ACC game after the first of the year.

good point

The announcer said that group was seniors who would be graduating so maybe they will do a second round with the rest of the team. Possibly the guys last night will be moving on after graduation.

Correct. I think that was just the group of seniors that were still on campus because of graduation this week. I fully expect a much larger celebration after the spring semester starts and possibly again at a home football game next fall. Another great catch by someone at Clemson realizing that these seniors will most likely be gone at that time and would miss out on celebrations after the first of the year. Go Tigers!!

Is an excellent post. You could hear the little ones too. Cute, and as you said, whoever set that up definitely deserves a shoutout... Hope it continues to get innovative like that.

I love it when they have the kids. They have done that for some women’s games in the past and they being such energy and excitement. I love it. Great job by the basketball dept.

I agree.

If you can't sell the tickets, give them away. Increase enthusiasm and concession sales.
