I like Bobby Cremins. He's always been a bit of a nut case, but he has a really
good personality for a Gamecock.

Cremins was recruited by Frank McGuire to play for SC back whe USC was an ACC school
and a potential recruit had to score at least 800 on the SAT to receive a scholarship. Cremins
failed to reach the 800 mark the first two times he took the test. He then paid a smart guy $50 to take the test for him. When Bobby woke up the morning of that 3rd attempt he was in a panic. He said it suddenly occurred to him that if his smart friend got some crazy high score, say a 950, everyone would know it was not Cremins who had taken the test. He ran to the testing site, met his friend and said he had to take the test himself. He did and I think the end of his story was that he scored 810 on it and 'passed with flying colors'.

Cremins best lifetime move was accepting the position of Head Basketball Coach at
his alma mater, the University of South Carolina, then calling the Gamecocks back the next
morning and telling them he had made a mistake and would not accept their job.
