was exactly what I said was what we should do to them in order for us to win - attack the edges and come back with the zone read and counters.... run them side-to-side and wear them out with ball control, while keeping the ball away from the other team's QB and offense.
We have a seriously well-balanced team to be able to withstand that sort of attacking offense for 99 plays and still score enough points to win - even after the turnovers. Good grief - with just a whisper of a difference on a couple of plays we would have beaten the daylights out of those guys on the scoreboard.
I'll give UL credit for a terrific effort, a great 2nd half adjustment with a highly accurate gunslinger on short passes and WRs with incredible hands, but they were not the best team on the field.
And the scary thing is that we haven't yet played our best game.

Yes. Take away the Clemson turnovers and we would have scored more points and possessed the ball more to rest our D. That would have resulted in being more effective stopping Jackson. We could have blown them out. But even with the turnovers and the 100 plays we had to defend, we had enough to overcome it all for the W.
Clemson at least has the opportunity to be the best team in the country. Cut back on beating ourselves and I think the Tigers are the best there is.

I'm not referring to Louisville or Clemson game specifically but it kills me when people say if we hadn't turned it over or if this player wouldnt have been injured etc. every single team every single game every single week. If u won u won. And if u lost u lost! Everybody can play the what if game. Ha.

While recognizing that the "what if" game works both ways, my slightly critical forensic view comes from the teachings of coaches I who taught me to review what had happened in order to learn how to improve. So, to me, it's never as simple as either a win or a loss..... it's how to win every time.
A football game is a great deal more than a simple coin toss with a shoulder shrug at the end. It's about life and the way to succeed within it.

Ha. Of course it's a life learning experience. It's human nature to justify whatever u want to justify to make yourself feel better and that's what happens every time with every team. Bottom line is bottom line however. It's a business. Have a good day!

i think you have to grade quarters..
1st - B+ cause of the D
2nd - A+
3rd - F
4th - A
we just haven't put a whole game together.. but, when we do, i feel for the team on the other side.

the most part until they got put into bad situations by the offense. The offense still can't seem to establish a running game which is concerning. That would have taken a lot of the pressure off Watson as it seemed every third down required a great pass from him. This leads to inconsistency.
I also think Watson's timing has been off this year for whatever reason and as clutch as he is (thank goodness) we would have run away with the game if he would have thrown a few less passes behind the receiver. We had one interception that way and a ton of dropped/tipped passes that way. Nobody's perfect though, just we are spoiled from Watson last year.
