Governor Cuomo's "apology" falls into the trap

Mar 3, 2021, 2:14 PM

that a lot of "apologies" fall into. He does not admit that his actions were wrong, and apologize for them. He only apologizes for the consequences felt by other people. He didn't do the consequences. He did the actions.

It's not a meaningful apology.

""I want New Yorkers to hear from me directly on this. First, I fully support a woman's right to come forward. And I think it should be encouraged in every way," he said. "I now understand that I acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable. It was unintentional and I truly and deeply apologize for it. I feel awful about it, and frankly, I am embarrassed by it, and that's not easy to say but that's the truth.""

It takes great strength of character to really admit

Mar 3, 2021, 3:01 PM

that one's actions were wrong, without equivocation, and I respect that so much. It's rare to see. Me included.

I respect a real apology so much, that if President Trump

Admitted he was wrong about perpetrating the election fraud lies, and showed sincerity in behaving and talking differently afterward, his slate would be wiped totally clean, and he'd be very much a candidate for my vote in 2024, if he ran.

Just a Cuomosexual "apology"

Yep. This is a classic non-apology/apology. As bad as Cuomo's is, Madison Cawthorn, the 25 yr old wheelchair bound, recently elected NC 11th District Congressman, had an even lamer response to allegations of sexual misconduct. His message was that he won his election by 12 percentage points and was busy taking care of his constituents, so basically there isn't a problem.I will say I find the fact that over 150 former students from Cawthorn's college signing onto a letter stating his predatory behavior was well known on campus is a bit strange. I'm not making excuses for him and I am not making fun of him being paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair, but if it was a known thing that Cawthorn was a groper, it would seem that it wouldn't take a lot of effort to ward off his unwanted advances.

Cawthorn's explanation however has nothing to do with anything. It sounds similar to Bill Clinton talking about getting back to the people's business.

I was wrong. I am ashamed is sometimes hard to admit, but I would prefer no apology than a non-apology/apology.

Kind of like those "I'm sorry if you were offended by my actions..." apologies, which aren't apologies.

I'm still waiting on all the Dems that crucified Brett Kavanaugh to condemn Cuomo. All I've heard so far is a wait and see. Where is Alyssa Milano?

It’s the part where he says he never touched anybody

Mar 4, 2021, 8:17 AM

That gets me

“I didn’t touch her, but I sent unwanted ###### pics”

Lying through omission is still lying
