There are still tickets available for the Orange Bowl. I guess we’re going to end up like all those schools we make fun of and not sell our allotment??

Not to get political, but times are tight for a lot of people out there.
College football, perhaps sports in general, might be about to get a dose of 'you know you're really not ALL that important when I can't pay my bills' in the coming years.

Actually, spectator sports in general never have been that important in the scheme of life.
Just takes longer for some to recognize that reality. IMHO

Getting to and staying down there that week is a batch. There are a lot of non-football people down there getting out of the northern cold with their families.

I wanted to go but have to use the rest of my vacation days for the week of Christmas, if the game would have been played Jan.1 or later i could have made it.

It would help if Iptay had decent seats. If you’re going to an away game or a bowl game you’re almost always better off buying on your own.

Savvy and sophisticated buyers of bowl tickets know for THIS type of game you never buy through the school.
It’s a different world we live in. The cost, TMthe availability of tickets, current economic environment, etc. etc. For this type of game, you can literally buy better seats online for cheaper.

Section I . Yes apparently 4 sections around the stadium had their color to change . They could have cushioned it someway.

Right. The headline reads that all colors increased by $100 which sounds reasonable. The movement of seats from one color code to the other was pretty quietly slipped in there. Going from $350 to $700 is pretty hard to explain.

Gotta be honest, for me and my family, it's a $5,000 trip for Tix, Food, Hotel, travel, etc. Ain't worth it, particularly in the days of opt-outs and transfers. Not that we have been hit hard but other teams have and it just dilutes the game and experience itself. Outside of the CFP games, bowl games are nothing but a glorified Spring game.

Had to go to a conference in Atlanta that started the day of the SEC championship game. If the prices in Miami (hotel, food, etc.) is anything like what they were in Atl the other week, I will pass. I'm not a cheap person. $30 for breakfast buffet at the Omni where I stayed. $80 ribeye steak at Ray's. Just stunning how prices have risen for everything. And I stayed at the Dolphin and Swan in Disney over the summer and these prices were higher than anything I saw in Florida.

We didn’t go top shelf and got out ok. A buddy of mine and I are going to go a couple days early and play some golf so we split the 2 BR condo and the condo and game tickets and golf will cost us each about $850. Still have food costs but we won’t be doing breakfast buffets and ribeyes. Not a lot different than a long golf weekend in Myrtle Beach. I used to live near the stadium so I know the area and restaurants we used to go to when we lived there. That is a little advantage as well.

I don't mind paying to see a game locally but spending thousands on an expensive trip to watch a non playoff game is too rich for my blood.
