A familiar face is a welcome sight at Clemson home games. It's been 40 years since Homer Jordan led the Tigers to their first national championship but his impact on the program lives on to this day.

Mr. Jordan arrived at Clemson at the right time. We needed his services and he perform better than any of Tiger Fans expected. A great player and a better Clemson Man. Hats off to Homer. God Bless

If you watch some old replays the game sure was different then. Homer was a great QB for the offense we ran.

I did not know that Headen came to Clemson as a QB. Headen was a monster on the basketball court. Played with him and a bunch of football players. Nobody could stop Headen. Frig could stop him by fouling him insanely hard.

Headen was such a great natural athlete that they basically created a position on defense to use his talents. Much like Isaiah Simmons recently. I played a lot of roundball with those guys too and watching him go from a skinny QB recruit to a guy that became a starting OLB for the Giants was nothing short of amazing. And Terry Kinard could have played college (and maybe pro) basketball as well as he did football. Lots of great memories from Fike.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I graduated from Clemson in '81 and I don't remember it even being a thought that he was black but I think for some of the older people at that time it was a big deal. We loved him then and he will always have enormous respect from me and other Clemson people that got to experience that unbelievable season.

That was an excellent article. Homer Jordan continues to impress years after the 1981 championship.

I was fortunate to be their in Mami on beautiful night when the Tigers ruled the day. Homer Jordan put the offense on his back on that last drive.
