Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Jan 31, 2022, 7:49 AM

Friday night, a nice calm night in. Watched some Nic Cage horror movie and started setting up the new security system.

Saturday, slept in hard for no good reason then managed to not even leave the house.

Sunday, did a lil bumming around watched some football.

Not too bad. Just bounced around but nothing special to report. Except... New house will be finished in a couple of weeks...apartment living almost over. YEAH!

Friday...took a half day. Family from wife's side of the house came in Friday 2ish. Hit the grocery store after work to stock up for the visit. Cooked some good lasagna for dinner and played board games with family after dinner. Was a good wholesome evening.

Saturday...Cooked breakfast for the crew. May have been some of my best grits yet. Wife's crazy af aunt came in from ATL via greyhound. Daughter-of's team I coach had game and we rolled in a big blowout. Back home to to see what excitement crazy aunt has in store for us, only to find her asleep on the couch where she stayed for many hours...only interrupted by the occasional crazy mumbling in her sleep. Made good chili for dinner. I retreat to bedroom after dinner to "stretch my back on bed and watch basketball games". Crazy af Aunt proceeds to effectively stir-up sheet. Wife-of comes to bed all worked up (not the good kind). Mission accomplished crazy Aunt.

Sunday...cooked another stellar breakfast for the crew. Family from NC headed back, so we're alone with crazy af Aunt. She proceeds to stir up more sheet this time with our kids in the room. So I send the kids out of the room and kindly asked her to shut the eff up for the next 2 hrs until I can dump her ### back on the bus out of town. She somewhat complies. Get her out of the house in time to watch NFL games. After last weekend, I was prepared for a letdown, but the games were both good. Good to see T. Higgins have a big day. Should be a decent match-up in the Super Bowl. Good for the sport to have some fresh teams and fresh faces in the big game.

Sattidy we rode to this Yuge flea market about 5 miles south of Commerce. Didn't realize it was basically an "all-messican" flea market. Had some really nice boots there and the food seemed much more authentic than your standard El Jimidor or Monterrey. Good selection of fresh produce at cheep prices too. Came home to watch some excellent golf at Torrey Pines.

Sunday - Church, grocery shopping, football &cookin.

6.77/10 (12.45/19 on the RH Covid scale). Major deduction for the cold weather.

Jan 31, 2022, 8:14 AM

Friday, went to see RH Mom, back home to make frozen pizza and drink beers. First time in weeks I've had beer...but I'm killing some whiskey up in here lately. I'm sure I watched something on TV, because I don't really remember doing much while waiting for the DeathSnow to arrive.

Saturday, woke up to see that we completely missed the DeathSnow. Also woke up to a broken Kuerig and had to dig out the old coffee maker and paper filters. Piddled about all morning until around 10:30, when UPS brought the new bass guitar to my door. Pretty much alternated the rest of the day between playing bass and hiking with the pup in the DeathWind. Neither of us was hungry Saturday night so I hit a quick peanut better and honey sandwich and got caught up in Station Eleven all night. Halfway through the season and still not really sure what to make of it.

Sunday, coffee, hike with pup, chores, grocery run, more chores, bass playing, watched second half of Bengals-Chiefs, Big salad for supper, more chores, more bass, did not watch Rams-49ers, crashed.

Nothing special as far as weekends go, but a new bass really pushes the score up, 18.92/19 Covids.

Basketbally

Jan 31, 2022, 8:21 AM

Both boy's teams played Friday. The youngest (U7), coached by my wife, had the game tied 2-2 then the other team went on a 24 point unanswered run and lost 26-2. The other team had one tiny little kid who scored at will and got rebounds left and right. He has older brothers and sisters that have taught him well. The middle kid's team (8-9 yo), coached by me, won their game. Son had 4 points, one other kid had 7ish points and that was all the scoring on our side. I think the other team had 4 points total.

Up Saturday for daughter's basketball game(s). She is 10 playing in the U13 league. Their first game was shaky at best, had a bad quarter and lost 18-6 or something like that. I think the other team scored 12 in the 2nd quarter. Daughter didn't play well, first game jitters and being smaller than all the other girls out there. Hit the gym for a 40 minute treadmill run then back to the court for game 2. Evenly matched, daughter played MUCH more aggressive as did the whole team. They won 11-10 but missed at least 7 free throws. Gotta work on those, could have ended the game earlier. Back home and cleaned up the house and gave the dogs baths. Out to the grocery store for a whopping $350 tab then back home to eat and go to bed.

Sunday church, lunch, home to do laundry then BACK to the gym for the boys to each practice.

We have decided to move the littlest one up to the 8-9s next year and coach together to keep from having three kids on three different teams with three different schedules. I had no weekend.

meh/10, good for the kids though.

went to grandson's 8U hoops game yesterday.

Jan 31, 2022, 8:34 AM

first time in years to watch a game at this level. At least this game, dribbling seemed to be optional, and no fouls or violations were called unless someone got knocked down. Zero walking or double dribble calls. Also didn't keep score. Grandson passed the ball to an open man very well, stole a couple of lazy passes, made a couple shots, and often dribbled the ball at a 60% proper level. I can say with zero bias that he was easily the best player on the court.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My 8yo is BY FAR the most athletic kid on our team but

Jan 31, 2022, 8:57 AM

his basketball shot is TRASH. He was like 2-8 shooting, hit his first and last shot and missed everything in-between. He needs to keep shooting though, you don't get better not shooting. I'm working on getting my girls on the team to get some shots, working the ball around to get them open. I like coaching the kids sometimes, but the wide range of skill levels across the board is tough to coach everyone correctly.

They call very few fouls and ask that you dribble, but it aint mandatory. Defense stays inside the 3 point line.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wide range of skill levels across the board is right.

Jan 31, 2022, 9:14 AM

range was from totally clueless up to a vague idea of what to do and how to do it. One, um, non-white kid was dribbling the ball between his legs and driving to the hole. Most of them thought if they were 15 feet out and wide open, they should shoot it. Even if their shooting range was 6-7 ft, tops.

I do admire the parents that step up to coach. SIL coaches grandson's team, mostly because he was the only volunteer.

Friday: Knocked off work a few minutes early. Cooked Chicken Fried Rice on the Blackstone. In bed early. A.

Saturday: I noticed the Blackstone had some seasoning chipping off and a little bit of rust. Stripped it down and cleaned it. We went out for seafood for dinner. Twas delicious. Then went to a concert. Late night but a lot of fun. Live music just hits differently. I need to go to more shows. A.

Sunday: Church. Browsed at Home Depot and used some Christmas giftcards. Mostly ended up buying things I needed rather than toys, which is fine. Strawberry sourdough pancakes for lunch. Grocery shopping. Walked with the family to the park. Got a bit of yardwork and some chores done. Reseasoned the Blackstone. Watched the last bit of both NFL games. Dinner was homemade pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. A+.

Overall: good mix of fun, relaxation, and chore achievement. A.

Re: Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Jan 31, 2022, 8:40 AM

Friday: stayed home and did some work around the house.

Saturday: ms midland and I ran errands all day. We must have gone to 7-8 different stores. My conclusion: the average person is rude and is an idiot. One example: we are leaving a store and have a cart full of stuff. We start to unload the cart into my car and someone stops their car in the middle of the aisle to wait on my parking spot. No car can go in any direction. We finish unloading the cart and ms midland takes the cart to the cart corral. She comes back and gets in the car and I try to backup to leave. The problem, because the person waiting on my spot has blocked the entire aisle, the entire aisle is now a cluster ****. You can't wait that long for a parking spot. Find another one. (Old man rant over) Finished watching season one of Yellowstone Saturday night.

Sunday: ms midland went to brunch with her friends. I watched football and LPGA. Did some laundry and napped.

8/10: because of idiots!

Went fishing Friday. Caught big fish but didn’t get very drunk. I think it’s because I’m getting old and that scares me badly. I tried to cook the Wahoo we caught but it tasted like a sweaty sock. We ended up picking up pizza and ate that instead.

I played golf on Saturday and then got in a big fight with my girl because that’s what happens after I play golf all day. I don’t think she’s my girl anymore and that’s probably for the best.

I woke up at 1:00 pm on Sunday, sad about losing my girl. Watched the Chiefs game at a bar. People stared at me because I was drinking pitchers of beer by myself but I didn’t care since the place had a great flowering onion and good wings. I ended up making friends with the guys sitting next to me but lost $50 to them because I thought Patrick Mahomes was better than he really is. When I got so bloated from beer and salty food, I went back to my rental.

fri - kept dawghater2baby home from daycare...seems she had some type of cold coming on again. Fri afternoon she starts coughing / wheezing so we ran her to the doc. turns out she got the croup.

picked up sushi on the way home from doc

sat - dawghater2baby was feeling better so went down to in-laws. mistake. wife wanted to look at furniture and some ####, so we left baby there for a few hours. don't think she slept much at all. when we got home she was losing it. started puking around 8 / 9, kept puking till 1 or 2 am. wife stayed up most of the night b/c stress

sun - up early w/ baby. started getting better, quit puking and ####. tried to let wife get some rest. did bout 14 loads of laundry. cleaned garage and wife's car. everyone was finally rested up enough for a walk around the hood come 4 (plus it was finally a nice day), so that was good.

made some heart healthy turkey burgers to watch my parlay card miss again. ready for golf season

I've been there recently. The first 8-10 months of daycare was a cycle of: get sick, stay home, feel better, go back to daycare, get sick again. It was rough but it gets better.

Didn't stick to nothin', but it was definitely snow, so we're counting it. Other than that, stayed inside where it wasn't freezing bawls (besides walking the mutts a few times), had a few dranks on Friday night with pops and another fran, watched a second consecutive weekend of entertaining NFL foosball. Relaxing, but cabin feverish at this point.

Fri - went over to brothers house. Other brother from Fort Mill came to town so we could do some painting for reasons that I will share soon. Had pizza from Acropolis and drank some beers with the brothers. Tired.

Sat - back to brothers, much more painting. Came crashing down around 5 pm because exhausted from Covid recovery. Slept on the couch for a couple hours, wake up and resume work and drink a few more beers.

Sun - Up too early for some reason. Back to brothers house and do some more work for a couple hours. Hit bar at Mellow Mushroom for a couple beers and watch football (MauldinT was not there). Took kids to mexican for supper, exhausted again so asleep by 9:30ish. Tired again today.

Started packing for my move in

Jan 31, 2022, 9:51 AM

2 months.

I went and bought some boxes and tape, and figured I'd get a head start on getting stuff in boxes I'll prob never open again. Got my office packed up except for my laptop and monitor, and threw out a bunch of stuff.

I must have 20-25 old hats I've been lugging around that I'll never wear again that went in the trash. Probably 5 of them were different color Esso Club hats, and some other Clemson hats that look like they came from a drunken beer run to a circle K. I'm not saying they didn't, but that's what they look like.

Sunday I went to the CHS boat show and found out the minimum price for pretty much any center console is $100,000. I dunno who is buying these things. I can't imagine a family buying a new boat, thats for sure. I saw a 38' boat with quad engines that was $900K. The "deal" of the show I saw was for a 24' Pathfinder bay boat for $108K. A 17' Sea Pro bare bones CC was $36K. The guy who wants a 17' bare bones Sea Pro isn't spending $36K on it. He prob doesn't make that much in a year. Its pretty crazy.

Friday: After work took Lamb_Chop and Pork_Tenderloin to a new wing spot near us. Not bad. Many good flavors to choose from and the wings were quite meaty, just how I like em!

Satiday: elite Junyah day. As most of you have read, it went well and we handed out some quality offers.

Sunday: following work, watched some footyfootball. I feel like the nfl playoffs have been rigged, but don’t even care because… excitement. Will be rooting for the Rams this super bowl.

Survived the “falling iguanas” cold weather down here so I give it a perfect 5/7.

Friday: MfOjr. and I got everything ready to go duck hunting Saturday morning.

Saturday: Duck hunted first thing (see attached pic). Saw quite a few but not much to shot at. Still memorable moment for the two of us. Looked for deer tracks in the snow and tried to walk up on a couple. Went to breakfast. Had a basketball game (lost) came home and started boiling peanuts. Went hunting in the evening. MfOjr. shot one and I was sure he was dead. Duck feel at edge of thick brush. Went to get duck and it had wondered in the woods and hid. Second duck son had ever bagged. Brownies cured a broken heart. Finished boiling peanuts, drank a couple of drinks before bed.

Sunday: Worked a little, ate lunch with mom and son Watched a little football before taking son to his mom's :( . Came home, watched more football, went walking/jogging, watched some of Rams/49er's game. Read and bed.

Spending time with son was the highlight. Can't wait to see him again tomorrow and wednesday.
