I miss Tiger. Have not agreed with all his life decisions but he takes any golf tournament up another notch and is very popular amongst his peers.

He did this to himself. This is all about money; he made over $40M last year but he wants more. I don’t know if there is anything wrong with the PGA tour or if it needs to be replaced, but it does appear the Phil is the only one who’s making that claim. He was stupid, he aligned his future with bad people, and now he’s paying for it. How was it supposed to go down anyway? A big reason why I watch golf is for the courses; I wanna see Augusta, Winged foot, Pebble beach, and the Ocean course. Was I supposed to care about how they scored at some course in Dubai or Bahrain?

Speaking the truth will get you crucified. It was a power play on his part to get the PGA Tour to meet some of his demands. Phil was never going anywhere. You have to be more careful when you are wearing sponsor logos on your shirts and hats. It’s a little more than being about you. I know how I am as I will tell if like it is and could really care less who it offends so my career would have been very short lived to say the least. Wish him well!

In an effort to put pressure on the pga tour.
That’s what the tour is upset about. He was willing to work with the Saudis to use that as leverage.

That’s what we lack in the world of today is “Truth”. IMO we are responsible for the Truth but not the consequences from telling the truth.
There aren’t many people in today’s world who are willing to stand on Truth because they are afraid of the consequences. Especially if the consequences can cost them ????. So Phil lost some sponsors who evidently are more interested in money than they are in someone who is Truthful!
It was Phil’s decision to speak up. I am sure he weighed the possible repercussions. It’s called freedom of speech!

Haven't liked Phil M. since 1989. The story goes that when Clemson's Kevin Johnson finished his round, no one was in the scorers tent and Phil told Kevin to go on to the press conference. Phil knew what would happen. See the link below.

hmmm never it went down like that.Thought it was because of a NCAA tournament official stopped Kevin Johnson and he forgot to sign his cared thus No Carded and his score did not count because of it both individual and team wise.

I heard it was a zoo and Phil just made it worse. I've never looked at him as the goodie-two-shoes they made him out to be. He's been involved in some very questionable things in his career.

That reminds me of a good friend who twice won the PGA Club Professional Championship. One year that he won it he tied with Sam Snead and had to go to a sudden death playoff. On the first hole of the playoff Snead hit his ball into the woods and took a couple of strokes to get his ball back into the fairway, When both players balls were on the green my friend could three putt from about 20' and win the championship. He lagged up to about a foot and Snead told him that the next putt was good and to pick his ball up ....... knowing that he would have been disqualified. My friend said "no thank you" and putted it in.
Another friend, Mason Rudolf, played Snead in a match for the Wonderful World of Golf at the Mid Ocean club in Bermuda (in about 1958, I think). Snead, of course, was a much heralded veteran of the PGA Tour, and Mason was a rookie. Mason won the match, and at the next tournament some of Snead friends were ribbing him about losing to a rookie and Snead claimed that after the match started he discovered he had more than 14 clubs in his bag (which normally would mean disqualification) so he didn't really "try". Yeah .... right!
Bottom line .... Phil and many other of these guys are out for themselves and they are going to do what they think is best for them. They are takers and not givers. At some point in their life that may change, as with several of the greatest players of all time, but in their playing days it is all about them. The brother of a former US Open winner and well known tour player once told me that when his brother held out his hand, he did not want to shake yours, he wanted you to put a check in it!

The only explanation that makes any sense is that he badly needed money. He’s made a lot, but there is speculation that he’s gambled much of it away. Shipnuck’s book will be interesting.

I am not going to criticize Phil because he has every right to say how he feels about the PGA as long as he knows there may be negative consequences because you called the way Phil saw it. You should watch the Vice channel about NFL and the WWE.
We have become a country of greed and political correctness. One word could cost you your career. And it’s only going to get worse.
