Golf disaster

What a disaster on the last 3 holes in today's 1st round. I know the guys want to play well for Larry P but as our basketball coach would say, "we are so tight we couldn't get a broom straw in". No margin for error so hopefully tomorrow is a better round.

In nationals. Penley has had an unreal hall of fame career. It’s the type of career that you think would have 2-4 national titles. But alas he has the 1.

On this course you can have a 5 shot swing very quickly. Our guys played ok most of the day. I believe we'll play even better tomorrow going off early.

I did not realize until I went back and looked at the Tigers scorecard again for today's round that #18 is playing as a Par 4 and it measures at 520 yards.No wonder that hole was playing tough for the Tigers.That is like a short Par 5 on a lot of courses these days,from the middle tees.A Par 4 that long is a Driver Yes off the tee but a Long Iron on the 2nd shot,maybe even a 3 Hybrid or 5 wood.According to the Gray Hawk Club-Raptor Course scorecard it plays as a Par 5 on any other day and is the 3rd toughest handicap hole on the course

Should be one heck of a finish with that monster. Anything could happen. Imagine teams fighting for that last spot Sun and Mon knowing you close on that bad boy.
Lol, that's driver driver 8 iron for me... And that's probably from the senior tees.

which I assume are for old clay fossils like me. It would still be a three shot (at least) hole for me at my current distances. (At least the distances I hit it last time I played before this most recent surgery.)

Pros can handle it now cuz you got 50-year-olds driving it 366 yards, but I’m assuming 20 year-olds haven’t mastered that kinda power and control yet.

Times have changed I know when it comes to the workouts golfers do today,getting stronger and the equipment has gotten a lot more high tech than say 10 years ago so players can hit it longer and farther but still that is a good poke on a 2nd shot on a Par 4,you better accurate.

I had the same question. Penley has been a great coach, but there's zero doubt that his teams (other than The One) have far underachieved in the finals.
