Given the latest info, DRAD to Miami makes perfect sense....

if you recall, DRAD's forte at GT was high level and high donor fundraising. That was his primary reason for coming to Clemson, i.e. put in place a program to recruit and retain high donor fundraising for Clemson. He did that and did that well as evidenced by the significant number of capital improvements within the Clemson athletic program. His "mission" was facilities and coaching salary improvements and all that was well coordinated with all involved with Clemson.

Fast forward to 2020/2021 and the "mission" perhaps moved to coordinating NIL especially with high donors, again this was/is DRAD's forte. For whatever reason, that doesn't play out at Clemson but it apparently is at Miami with their high donor base, especially this Ruiz fella.

Nothing earth shattering here, other than perhaps there was more than the "going to back to my alma mater" reason for DRAD leaving Clemson for Miami. Maybe the other Clemson power players weren't all in with the WIZARD OF OZ, sugar daddy approach that seems to be going on at Miami?

Might be a good back story! Where's our "investigative" Tiger Net reporters when we need them....LOL.

At the end of the day, he had 2 million more reasons to go to Miami than he had to stay at Clemson. What's going on there is just the Miami way.

I'm happy he's where he is

Clemson's business school focused on Sports Economic Management. I don't think DRAD did much. It was College of Business and Dabo and Univ President

Miami is in need of major facilities upgrades and Clemson

has already completed most of theirs.

Also, he ran GT's football program into the ground, hitched his wagon to Dabo to rebuild his reputation and now is doing a similar thing with Cristobal and Miami, he hopes.

I am sure that Drad had a number of reasons to go to Miami, but I can assure you that he loved Clemson. Hiring head coaches is always a crap shoot to a certain extent because when you hire well experienced successful coaches you never know if they are just riding it out to the end of their career ……. I.e. Lou Holtz. Young upcoming coaches can be very unpredictable ……. I.e. Scott Frost. Their main job is administering the athletic program…..duh …… and Drad did an outstanding job here and Georgia Tech. He is also an outstanding human being ……. Very loyal to his employer and as well to those who worked for him. Miami is lucky to have him.
