Two-time All-American and former Clemson cornerback Donnell Woolford will be honored next week (July 23) with an induction into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. I think it was Donnell Woolford who was set to receive the punt on the infamous FSU 'Puntrooskie'? I was in the stands that day. FSU was stopped short on 3rd down, so they went to punt the ball. I was telling my buddy that if FSU punts they ball, even if Woolford call for a fair catch, Clemson has good field position with little time left. If Woolford gets a decent punt return, that could be it. So I told my buddy that FSU had nothing to loose, but everything to gain by faking the punt.

I was hoping that Danny Ford would call a timeout to discuss it, but he didn't. As FSU was lining up to punt, I joined the crowd by chanting 'fake punt'. Fake punt was was resonating loudly around the stadium, so I was still hoping for a timeout. None came. Then there was the fake punt (Puntrooskie).

I watched as the FSU player ran down the Clemson sideline right by Danny Ford kneeling on the ground with a blade of grass in his mouth, like he often did. I don't think Danny Ford ever even came to his feet? And I also believe it may have been Donnell Woolford who chased the FSU runner down and tackled him inside the 5 yard-line?
