Venables opens up about loss to Buckeyes and the gameplan: "Burn it all"

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables started Wednesday’s post-practice availability by letting everyone know that he likes to take responsibility for his defenses, and the reason that he hasn’t spoken with the media since before the Sugar Bowl had nothing to do with conspiracies or ducking questions. That night against the Buckeyes was a bad night in every way.

Yep, the defense got raped.

Got to impose one's will on the opponent!

I love a fired up and motivated Brent Venables. Lets hope he is on a war path this year and that defense can get the Valley rockin!

I would want no one but BV to right the ship. I doubt if there are many teams feeling sorry for ole Clemson U. Venebles is the best!

Yes. He is.

I guess it was a bad attempt at humor on my part seeing as this post is almost an exact copy of a article a couple of posts prior, both of which largely consisted of repeating what was in Crump’s press conference thread. Sorry.

Sounds like BV has a plan ... Burning Down The House!

Mar 31, 2021, 8:46 PM

And with a little help from his friends Bresee, Davis and Murphy, BV is the perfect no B.S. architect that can truly build it back better. The Mad Scientist has been busy in the laboratory mixing up those chemicals in extra large test tubes. Already feeling better about 2021 Defense ...

Youth was against us the past 2 years on the D-Line. With that said it’s now time for a couple position coaches to prove they’re on the level of Dan Brooks and Marion Hobby.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Davis & Bresee most improved...

That’s scary for the opposing OL

The Biggest Reason Why Clemson Didn't Do Well On Defense

Mar 31, 2021, 9:19 PM

You may disagree, but ever since Jimmy Greenbeans decided to take his talents elsewhere it has never been the same. Jimmy Greenbeans always challenged our Defense at all three phases during Camps and Practices. I say we all begin a TNET Petition and fight to bring Jimmy Greenbeans back to Tigertown!

I think OSU just wanted it more against us, just like we were against Alabama with the beat down. Great teams learn from losses. It’s the little things that add up to make for a great season. coach V doesn’t shy away from reality. He’s the best!

This exactly. Day said he and his staff focused on Clemson pretty much the entire year.

There is no question that Coach V knows what he is doing. We got beat by a better team against Ohio State and we have moved on. In today's football world the back 5 are most important and that is where we were weak last year and have to show great improvement this season.

Nope, the lines are still the most important in football. Back 5 can only maintain coverage for so long and the line has to get heat on the QB or they are going to get eaten alive which is what happened against tOSU.

We haven't had a good pass rush since the Power Rangers left.

Right, the past two years we have had freshmen out there, mostly and haven't had the heat coming from the front line. BV has had to blitz non stop and that's cost us big time. We need Bresee, Tyler Davis and the DE's to step up this year big time. They had their moments occasionally last year, but we need consistency.
The back 5 will be torched without a good pass rush from up front. Every knowledgable football fan knows this stuff.
