I know there are a lot of things at play in a win or loss, but I would feel more confident about Riley if TCU didn't just get killed by Georgia in the Playoff and only score 1 touchdown early! It has to be better than last year though!

Riley didn't coach the defense that gave up so many points.
He coached an offense that was dynamic, with a great QB, and WRs who got open. And beat a Michigan team with a stout defense.
UGA played their absolute best game of the year.
Lots to be excited about.
Please stop being a Negative Nelly!

Not a NN, just logical. That was an initial reaction when I saw the news and btw my wife said it at the same time. As far as UGA's D, doesn't matter you should score more than 7 points in the whole game. Prob a lot of nerves as someone said and they were hopelessly outmatched for sure. I'm all behind the hire and 110% hope it works out; wish it had happened a year ago.

On paper, the talent level of the players on the offensive side of the ball at Clemson exceeds that of TCU. I suspect that would have made a difference in the score versus Georgia. Having said that, it's unlikely they could have scored enough to beat the Dawgs in that title game...

Beating Michigan was one thing, but I think most of us deep down knew Georgia was going to thrash TCU. They don't have the size nor the depth to compete with Georgia, even with transfers. They problem in the Championship game wasn't scheme, it was talent. Hopefully we're way closer to where it needs to be for him to show what he's got if we can manage to get there again. We definitely aren't that far off from climbing back to the top of the mountain.

It happens. Start pressing and nothing goes right. You could tell tcu first offense series when Dugan threw an easy pass to the flat. Just kids with nerves. 3 turnovers. I fully expected similar to happen in meechigan game.
Go look at tcu recruiting and then come back and say you're still skeptical.

their defense not getting a stop put way to much pressure on the offense who already had an uphill battle against georgias talented defense

Home run hire, IMHO. Hate it as a Gamecock. Our fans were hopeful he'd come to Cola. ####.

Yeah let’s ##### some more and negate the 51 he put up against Michigan and helped a team like TCU reach a national championship. But by all means continue to be negative it suits you.

TCU didn't have 51 offensive points against Michigan. Two pick-sixes.

True but 37 offensive points was still more than any other opponent of Michigan’s this year. Before that game they’d kept everyone under 30 points.

Then you can sit in the corner and contemplate whether or not we are better off while the rest of us party on celebrating the fact we landed the guy who just won the Top Coordinator in the country for 2022.

And how many points would we have scored on Georgia when we only scored 14 against Tennessee?

Definitely an improvement. Riley will always have an eye for the next job, though. We can get a couple good years out of him, I believe. I feel bad for Streeter, as I think his hands were tied because of DJ, but this is big boy football and he was well compensated.

Ohio State had the best chance to be Georgia but they were robbed by the refs.

TCU star running back injured and did not play vs jawja...made a huge difference when TCU becomes one dimensional! Account for the QB and you are home free!

I feel there was more to the NC game than lack of offense by TCU, TCU turned the ball over multiple times in the first half that led to Georgia TD's and obviously TCU defense didn't help matters. Let's face I am not sure they way Georgia played too many other teams would have done any better. I also think not that I put a great deal in recruiting rankings, but TCU was 28th in 2022, 48th in 2021. So the level of talent was not even close to Georgia. If you watched the NC game closely, the speed and the size of Georgia was head and shoulders above TCU. Bottom line for me, Riley's hire is a huge improvement over Streeter in terms of an OC. I am for one loving the hire by Dabo and the very fact he went outside for this hire speaks volumes.
