Fyi the acc decided to table the 9 game thing

Till October meetings.
Thinking about it I'm fine with 9 games IF they drop the midmajor game (ala Troy) and not the Auburn UGA TX A&M game AND all conferences go to 9 games.
Hopefully TV revenue will even all this out.

History shows that won't happen. When ACC went to 9

in 2012 we immediately dropped Ole Miss (would be playing them this year) and OK State. When it was reversed to 8, we re-upped with Auburn and TAMU.
Those are the series you can kiss goodbye, not a guarantee Group of 5 and in-state FCS, lest we pay a significant price for the lost home game (= less ACC Network inventory), and exist in outlier territory with only a handful of other schools nationally with 11 Power 5 games.
Somebody's gotta pay for the Oculus. 6 home games ain't gonna get it done.

When it goes to 9 conference games, the major OOC games

will be the ones not booked. There's too much of a hit on the local economy and the Olympic sports to lose the 7th home game. In the future I could see them being allowed to play an FCS type school for the spring game to offset it.

What hit??? The new network revenue will be 100x greater than the revenue from a single game against SCSU

This statement is utterly false.

80,000 x $35 = $2.8 Million. That's before sponsorship revenue, concession sales, and the opportunity to show off Clemson football to prospects, not to mention that these games are ideal for families due to less cost and easier travel. Then there's that little thing where we're no longer able to support state FCS programs and keep the Clemson brand stronger throughout the state.
Will the cut from an ACC Network be more than the revenue from that game? Yes, but barely. 100x is cray cray.

that there's a state law stating that Clemson and South Carolina must play 1 small in-state school each season. Can't swear by it but does anyone know if that's true?

No such law is on the books. The General Assembly does mandate the rivalry as I understand it, but Clemson simply needs to demand the conference annually make up for the lost revenue coming from a seventh home contest. When FSU, Ga. Tech and Louisville do so as well the remaining teams will get the message that a major out of conference opponent matters. NCST and company need to step up and quit playing cream puffs.
Go Tigers!

UGA took us out behind the woodshed in 2003. Only thing worse than that loss was the heat we had to sit in that day.

I can understand the wanting an easy win argument. But I'll never understand fans wanting a home game against a cupcake just to have an extra home game.

I used to have the same feelings until I had kids. But the extra game vs a cupcake is perfect for families with younger kids because the game is early, so you are not getting home way after bedtime. It's less crowded, tickets are easy to find and you don't have top dollar for tickets.

year except Clemson.
ECU? Western Carolina? UMass?
And at #100, you actually managed to schedule two Group of 5 teams that are actually ranked LOWER - UMass being dead last.
Last year...
UCF (o-fer, sound familiar) Citadel (sorry, too soon?)
2014 (9 Power 5): East Carolina Furman South Alabama
I could go on but what a waste of time it's been already.

Going to 9 conference games would only benefit the ACC bottom feeders that Clemson & FSU keep afloat. I see no benefit in it. Would most likely lose a home game and miss out on the one BiG P5 game we schedule every year.
As someone else pointed out - the teams in B1G and PAC12 primarily have their main rivals within conference so it makes sense for them - not so in the ACC and SEC.

agree....also the extra conference game would increase the odds of two teams playing each other again in the ACCCG. I think that would/could kill the attendance.

It could also squash some long time rivalry games between ACC/SEC. That would take away a lot of what makes college football so great

Even though other ACC programs would be forced to upgrade their competition between now and 2019, I believe the 8-2 schedule would ultimately work best for the ACC. Notre Dame is the wildcard so I would suggest during years any team played ND they would only have to schedule one out of conference P5 opponent in addition.
I think the networks are going to have no choice but to allow conferences to play lesser programs such as Temple, ECU and the FCS teams like Wofford will suffer financially as a result.
Go Tigers!

Unfortunately it only benefits those whose rival is in the ACC, mainly Duke and UNC. It only hurts Clemson, FSU and GT...whose rival is in another conference.
12 game broken down as follows...9 conference games + SC game + 1 in state FCS leaves the ability to schedule 1 OOC game. In order to keep 7 home games every year, that game must be at home every year. The likelihood of getting UGA, AUB, TAMU, etc to play in Clemson and us not return the favor is miniscule. So that means our lone OOC game will be filled with the likes of ULaLa, North Texas, Utah St, etc, which does not help the strength of schedule and path to the playoff.
I guess there is a chance we could see a neutral site game. I don't see that happening every year because we'd still lose a home game. But every 4-5-6 years maybe.

Not to mention, the years we have to play ND in South Bend (it is not a conference game, but a contractual obligation), we will be forced to give up a home game.
