They have to be. Also, who knows how talented they will be? It looks good potentially. It sounds like they are the new Kansas State from the Bill Snyder days. Same situation.

It made a big difference for them last year. They have to until their recruiting catches up. Even the elite cherry pick the portal to supplement top 5 recruiting classes. Jamyr Gibbs made a huge difference for Bama this year.

And it’s not you and I’m this thread it’s been everywhere since Friday. “Great FSU is back, they are going to be a tough out next year, we’ve let them catch up, etc”. But my problem is since Jameis left everyone has complained about FSU being down is hurting the ACC, if they were better that would give us a great win during the season, we need FSU to get back so we will look better as a conference, every title game should be FSU vs Clemson, that’s been the comment for years now. So now that everyone’s wish is finally true we are shaking in our boots because we are going to have competition again. Is everybody just that two sided or did they just realize it’s pretty sweet sitting on the throne with no chance anyone will take it and now are afraid they will have to eat their words? Some of the hypocrisy since Friday is ridiculous.

Sure, it’s nice to play in big games, but I am more concerned about Clemson.
FSU is improving quickly and they seem to have a drive right now which is in direct opposition to what appears to be a complacency on our part.
If these trends continue, they will be better than us.

Dabo has a moral compass and would never tamper. I wouldn't either.
I don't know to what extent it is going on but something needs to be done.

Nearly everyone that has left us is due to playing time. I would say the one that I can think of that did not leave due to playing time had some issues, but that is about it. There have been a few that I have been told by the coaching staff had character issues, but they did not reply to being bad mouthed which to me speaks well of their character.

Did you see how great Lincoln Riley did with the portal last offseason ? Man they had a great portal season.
Then they couldn't win their conference , and just lost to Tulane University....in football.
The portal helps some , but it won't "reposition" everyone the way some think it will.

We sure could use DE, WR, CB, and OL (judging by the last game).
I think people are fed-up that we lose continually to the portal then benefit zero from it.
You don't see this as an honest concern, I mean really?

I think it is concerning but not more so than we have had lackluster results with the coaching carousel (except the Eason hire , which was a home run) and some of our recruits haven't panned out thus far.

Yeah, I get it. Seeing this slow decline reminds me of the transition from Danny to Hatfield (yeah I am old).
Even back then people were defending Hatfields wins but the ones who followed recruiting and took a critical eye to what was happening on the field could see it.
Now we have the most successful coach ever slowly running aground with an understandable gang of Dabo super fans /coaches family, etc pissed the f off that we even mention it even though TNET writes articles about it. Its insanity here!
Stay the course? Wonder if those words were ever spoken on the Titanic?

We know we aren't going to bring in a ton of portal guys, but we've legitimately targeted several. Zero have chosen to come here? Why?
And we aren't allowed to say NIL as that is just an excuse to some, though no one has shown me these huge NIL factories with cash on hand Clemson has right now. We certainly know other schools do.

I don't know if this is part of it but if you are in the portal and you know the head coach has been very vocal about playing the guys he recruits and not being a big supporter of the portal, would you really want to risk your transfer to go there vs. to a place who really wants you and is going to give you a fair shot?

few as they are, were guys who clearly being brought in to play now. We haven't been connected with scrubs or backups, but stars leaving their schools. The 2 OL last year. CB this year. A couple of WR earlier this year, but we have to wait to see if Ngata returns. Numbers have to work out as well.
If Jones returns at CB, we're full there unless someone else transfers.
DE would seem to be a possibility if XT or KJ leave, but are there any top end DE's out there? We're only going after starters.

I say this sincerely and not to be funny, I don't know if they believe they can "trust the process." Dabo has been so vocal about the portal that these guys who don't really know what we are about may question the sincerity and again, we aren't the only ones talking to them so opposing coaches are certainly using Dabo's words against him at every turn.

We lose to the portal both through departures and to others on the field.
IMO, this will continue to happen until we start using it. It’s not illegal.

FSU high school recruiting is around 20th the past 2 years.
You cannot keep recruiting portal after stabilization or high schoolers with talent will quit coming. FSU clearly has historical success. But I disagree about them doing better than others simply due to the portal.
Because they may end up beating us, does not end our reign.

Every other team in college football has brought in contributing portal players, yet we are going further back in the rankings over the last few years. How are people passing us if high schoolers are going to hold it against them? I just don't see how that argument holds water.
