FSU Game Discussion

After seeing the NCST game this weekend, FSU's running game makes me nervous. As much as I hate to say it, Dalvin Cook is one of the top 5 backs in the country right now and their offense simply does not turn the ball over often. IMO, our success Saturday hinges on our ability to eliminate their rushing attack. Thoughts?

I wouldn't base expectations for this Saturday's game on 1 game vs NCSU. That was an anomaly unlikely to happen again; this defense has not allowed anyone to control the game by running the football basically over the last few years.
Cook will get some yards, probably have a big play or two but we will have plenty of tackles behind the line of scrimmage like usual.
I think Clemson is thirsty for payback on FSU and to take control of the conference. The players and coaches knew the 2013 game was an aberration...not that FSU wasn't better bc they were but 9/10 times we put up a fight that year and that game was just a lot of crazy stuff happening similar to the Miami game last week but with roles reversed. In 2014 the team thought they could get their revenge in Tallahassee and almost did to dethrone the Noles but again couldn't finish the job.
I fully expect the Tigers to be focused and execute at a high level and thoroughly control the football game. I think 38-16 is about what we will see.

That back-up QB seems to be a better passer than Goldson for FSU. That could be an unknown-if he plays. We will keep Cook bottled up I do believe. He may break one or 2 for some distance. But we will need to pressure the QB and make him uncomfortable. I hope we beat them up bad! i mean they lost to Tech... I hope that the 2nd and 3rd stringers get to play.

With much fire and energy. I would be willing to bet we will not see the D look that bad again this season. Plus we will be playing in the valley, I think the D is going to play lights out.

We all knew that game was coming. Better against NCS than FSU. State was better and faster than we thought, and at start of game our defense looked like they had been reading too many of their own press clippings. Defensive film time will not be fun this week with BV.

The backup QB had 348 yards against the #104 team in Pass Efficiency Defense and #105 in Pass yards Allowed.
The backup RB had 162 yards against the #57 Rush Defense.
Clemson is #14 in Rush Defense, #8 in Pass Efficiency Defense, #11 in Pass Yards Allowed.

Davis/Brandon Wilds, Andre Williams of BC, GT's whole offense, etc.?
Answer: render a strong running game ineffective. I expect the Noles to rush for less than 100 yards in this game.

Well I think our D needs a solid game and we just keep pounding the football down their throats with Wayne and company. But yeah, stopping cook is gonna be one key.

...we do all those other one-man superman tailback teams. He'll be more dangerous coming out on screens and wheel routes than taking handoffs. Cook also will still be gimpy from hamstring issues. Those don't go away in a few days and one Saturday of rest.
On offense Watson will pretty much have his way with them and that will be the difference in the game for us.

I think it is a good thing the defense had some trouble against nc state. The team will come into this game a little sharper because of it. This game will be just like last year against Carolina, except dw will have two good legs. These guys are hungry and set up for redemption. It is going to be a fun game to watch. Go Tigers!

Stop the run and pressure. Whichever Qb fsu plays. Clemsons defense should be pumped up. And on offense well. Fsu defense cant handle Watson and his many weapons to choose from.
