The last major expansion was 1983 the addition of the 2nd upper deck, the population of South Carolina 1983, 3.2 million. The last expansion 2006 1500 seats, the population of South Carolina 2015, 4.8 million.
Bryant Denby Stadium 1983 55,000 seating, 2015, 101,000. You can also look at UVA, UNC, FSU, and Georgia they all added at least 10,000 seats since 1983 and we've added 1500. Also the upstate has seen some of the highest population growth during this period. I look for a large addition after the 2016 or 2017 season, large being 6000 plus. This is the easiest way to add revenue.

A review of the history of our stadium will demonstrate efforts over the years to provide additional seating due to an ever increasing alumni and fan base along with increasing student population. Few know that the original DV construction featured only the south stands, followed with bleacher seating, the north stands, then bleacher seating in the WEZ.
The upper deck south addition surprised many of us who graduated before its origination, and when the upper north was added, we were doubly surprised, yet elated.
DV will seat over 100, 000 sooner than most think...that I am convinced. The main question: how?

I'm not sure Clemson has the fan base to support 100,000 for every game unless buying tickets becomes a lot easier and cheaper. We could likely add another 10,000-15,000 above the current east end zone seating and probably as much as we wanted above the West end zone, but I'm not sure we fill that every game. Much better to fill up the stadium all the time (we aren't selling out every game currently, only the big ones)

Disagree. I do not believe Clemson will add any additional seating. The trend in football is decreasing attendance due to rising ticket costs and improved television coverage.
Soon, college football will be like pro football. Most revenue generated will come from TV contacts and corporate sponsors, not from fans. Sad to say, but true.

That makes sense then. I know they had some issues with attendance recently and this is probably a better way for them to generate additional revenue. Addition by subtraction.
