In the past they won games they shouldn't and lost to teams they should have beaten, i can see them with a second place finish in the ACC.

Summer talking season 2021: UNCheat will win the ACC and end Clemson's dominance. UNCheat flopped.
Summer talking season 2022: NCSU is going to be the team to beat in the ACC. NCSU flopped.
Summer talking season 2023: FSU is the team to beat in the ACC. FSU will win no more than 9 games.

Prediction- They beat LSU again and ESPN (again) will pretend it didn’t happen….
They finish 2nd in ACC - Dabo didn’t fire Brandon Streeter to not win championships…

We also could play twice and we all know that beating the same team twice is tough especially a week after we play the Great Chicken team.

Not sure where those NIL numbers come from.

Only 4 over 100K. I suspect overall the numbers are low.
It is clear from the collectives themselves the priorities for paying players are:
1. Retain current players so they will not declare for the NFL draft or enter the transfer portal. 2. Pay players who are in the portal or are transferring from a JUCO.
The point is, give the money to players who have a proven track record, not a high school senior who has "great potential." (I'm pretty sure that is the same set of priorities Clemson has.)
As for 2023, this appears to be our best chance to compete for the ACC and even a playoff birth. We have a ton of talent returning starters. And, key positions. They will all be gone next year. We have a ton of talent that has transferred in through the portal. They will all be gone net year. The key to this season seems to be staying healthy. Our depth is far better than it has been, but still not as deep as we need.
The ONE big position we can't afford an injury is QB. The dropoff in talent from Travis to whoever wins the backup spot (probably Tate Rodemaker) is huge.
The other biggest questions for this season are, in no particular order:
1. LB depth. We seem to have 2 very good LBs and a bunch of guys who have yeat to prove they are even average. Hopefully our DL will be good enough to overcome the lack of quality of LB group.
2. DB ability. We got the transfer in from UVA. We seem to be getting better. We have a new DB coach. We are hoping things improve, but we're holding our breath. Last year good offensive teams burned out secondary. It looked like we had no idea how to play zone and weren't athletic enough to play man.
3. OL ability. We are getting better every year. Everyone loves the OL coach. We are optimistic. But, we have to be able to run the ball on 3rd and 1 or first and goal from the five by playing power football. Last year we couldn't do that. We had to run with some sort of trick or finesse or misdirection plays. There are times when you just have to line up and smack somebody in the mouth.

With new transfer players coming in again FSU will lose 1-3 games early while they attempt to transition like they did last year - you simply cannot rebuild your team each year with transfers - they need time to acclimate and function well as a unit! Especially with the players you have already on hand in your system. Also, look at the number of players transferring out of there - that tells you something as well!

I dont really know who they have snapping the ball but the last couple QBs were bean poles that our D broke in two every game.

It's tough to say. I think they'll be a top 15 team, but not a real playoff contender. The question is more how good will we be. Last year we weren't top 15 in either offense or defense. If we're back to form, I think FSU will win double-digit games, but lose the Atlantic to us. If we're not, they could win the ACC (but will be humiliated in the playoffs).

I think this game could be very similar in importance for our season as the opening game with UGA a couple of years ago. If we win it then it could be a springboard for the rest of the season but if we lose it that effectively puts us 2 games behind FSU making it more challenging to win the ACC.
I'm glad we have them in Death Valley...

2-2 in September

They start with LSU, which I think is a loss.
They host a physical Southern Miss team before coming here to Clemson where we ABSOLUTELY have this game circled as a must-win & perhaps the only likely big game opportunity of the season (ND still is largely incidental but that's another topic).
I think FSU starts the season looking like a contender but finishes September at 2-2 & that somehow affects our schedule strength & award opportunities.
