"This highly rated QB struggled last season on a bad Clemson team, but the tools are all there for the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder to be one of the best pro prospects in the Daunte Culpepper mold,"
Bad Clemson team? We ended up going 10-3, and that was with a quarterback who had zero pocket awareness nor could he throw an accurate pass more than 3-4 yards.

The projection of DJU being a top 5 pick or that the Panthers would actually draft a Clemson player.

You know what's crazy, when we signed him he was DW4 or TL16

on steroids... bigger, stronger, faster, and with a more powerful arm. He could throw a football 70 yards sitting on his azzz and just flickin his wrist. Baseball scouts were droolin all over him because of his 100 mph fastball, but he chose football instead. He led his team to the Calif state title at the highest level having to beat teams like Mater Dei and chit. He dominated all of the Elite QB competitions. He was the mackdaddy QB of all mackdaddy QBs. I sat in my my vodka daze and dreamed of at least a couple more nat'l titles. FML. That is all.

have fathers craving the spotlight more than their sons while spending all of their time making a complete anus of themselves nationally on social media. Also, DW4 and TL16 had a stable of receivers that helped cover any flaws in their game that might not have translated from the high school game to college.

studs like Tee Higgins, Mike Williams, etc, that made those 50-50 balls more like 90-10, because they would just go up and take it away from the DB. I get it. So a little drop-off in QB efficiency and production would be understandable. Yep, I get it...
But I also know what my eyes told me. I saw a QB that locked in on one target and didn't go through the progressions to find the open guy. I saw a QB that stood like a statue in the pocket and didn't sense the pressure and where it was coming from. I saw a QB that ran like he was wearing cement boots. I saw a QB that fired balls at 100 mph when it wasn't necessary, leading to incompletions or interceptions.
Like all of us, I hope the OL is improved and we have better WR/TE play. I hope DJU learned a lot from last year and plays up to his potential and hype. I hope the offense is firing on all cylinders with a lethal passing attack to go along with our stable of RBs and a killer defense...
But I'm gonna have to see it on the field, and a lot of it depends on DJU.
edit: oops, thought I was replying to Greenr below.

Don't get me wrong....

I'm firmly in the camp of DJ ending up being somewhat of a bust based on the recruiting hype. I'm not sure four years of college ball will fix the flaws in his game...at least not without some QB whisperer coach magically figuring out how to do it. He can be serviceable but in my opinion, he's not a play-maker and most likely will not lead Clemson to a championship. I'll be more than happy to get two more 10-win seasons out of him even if we don't get to the playoffs, but ultimately I see the same things you do with DJ.
That said...we still had far too many issues to help cover him, and if it were my decision I'd pass on his little brother just to be shed of the distraction of Big Dave. I'm also a little relieved to be out of the Arch Manning sweepstakes for the same reason. Not that his family will 'Big Dave' him but more to the point that the hype and the pressure from the media will make it a tough go no matter where the kid lands. He's levels above any QB in his class in just that respect even if he really is the best player at his position. Trevor might have been in the same boat but he stuck with a really early commitment and let the media run wild speculating about everybody else because he wasn't 'news' at that point.
