Slow Friday night... watching The A Team on Me TV. The guest "stars" were Hulk Hogan and William Perry! It was from 1986, Hulk nor Fridge or going to win any awards for acting... but then neither were any of the "actors" on that show. Still pretty neat to see Fridge, he was the big thing at that time!

Saw MD at the recent graduation. Said his daughter was graduating. He was styling and had a sharp significant other. Said brother was doing OK.

I agree on MD being the better NFL player but I still think Fridge was the better athlete. The stuff he could do in college was crazy. Heck of a basketball player too.

Yep. Played with him in Fike many times. Man could stand flat footed and jump straight up and dunk the ball, catch it on the way down and go straight back up and dunk it again, over and over maybe 5-6 times in a row.
Ran into him full speed driving the lane one time and he just caught me as I bounced off and asked me if I was ok.

Played HS football against Fridge. He was the most athletically gifted human I had ever seen, with linebacker speed in a lineman's body. He was always just a big kid at heart, and it drove Ditka insane during his time with the Bears. Had Fridge taken football seriously he would have been among the best DL ever to play the game. MD just had that desire and perfect disposition for his position. I had a buddy at Clemson who was a walk-on DL while MD was there. There were numerous times that MD got kicked out of practice just so the offense could get some work in. He was that disruptive.

Fridge was just one of the biggest dudes anyone had ever seen on the football field. Great run stopper. Throw that in with the TD in the SB and you have a legend. Michael Dean has done a lot for his brother with all his health issues. Used to see Michael Dean on occasion at the games but it has been a good while now. Hope he is still doing ok.

Corolla on The Man Show and they took Frig fishing. Frig skunked them, then cleaned the fish so they could all eat.

Only memories I have of the Man Show were the lovely ladies bouncing on the trampoline every show.

But he was the most athletic. We won the ‘81 natty when he was a freshman. Danny platooned Fridge with Senior William Devane at Nose Guard and Dave Rimington had a rough night. Go Tiguhs!!

Jackorange, after I posted my comment on Fridge's athleticism, I just saw your same response. Obviously, I agree with you!

Y'all ever see the house the Fridge built after he got a few NFL bucks? A mansion built right off a main highway, with single wides and a junk yard to his south and a cemetery to his north. A real head-scratcher.

He built it there because it was next door to his then inlaws. His then father in law did all the brickwork on the house. Think his ex-wife still lives there.

The brick wall around the yard has large football shaped openings. The times I have driven by and told someone who built that house.

Fridge had Ditka to thank

for putting him in on the Jumbo package during the season and the Super Bowl which was retaliation for Green Bay having done it to the Bears the year before. Fridge was and still is the heaviest player ever to score in the NFL. And before Tee last year, was the only Clemson player to score in the Super Bowl.
Kinda sad that Fridge made a few million from the NFL, commercials, talk shows, a little acting, action figures, etc, but is basically living off his NFL pension now. Alcohol apparently was his Achilles heel along with his weight.. I remember when he was on Letterman, at one point bragging about drinking 30 beers one night. You could say he was a victim of his own success.

I remember one of the announcers commenting that he got Walter Payton’s Super Bowl touchdown. Btw: Who can dig up the song that the Chicago stations were playing. Perry, Perry, Refrigerator Perry, 72 is the number that he wears,.
