Re: Freddie Freeman. What's the truth? Doug Gottlieb tweeted

that Freddie's agent never told him about the Braves' final offer. The agent denies it. Whatever happened I think the Braves lose on this short-term but win long-term because Matt Olson is very good, is 5 years younger than Freddie, and it saves the Braves mucho money to sign their other young stars in the future:

Classic case of agent doesn’t have to move, only cares about his percentage, takes the deal.

Players are high priced livestock

Plus, financially I heard reported

Jun 30, 2022, 10:22 AM [ in reply to Re: Dodgers suc ]

with state taxes, Freddy doing worse financially (I know, poor guy) than if he'd have taken the ATL deal

Color me skeptical because...Doug Gottlieb.

These agents are surely fiduciaries, right? If it is common for them to not convey final offers to their clients I would think there would be lawsuits galore.

Yea, I've disliked some of his hoops commentary in the past,

Jun 30, 2022, 9:30 AM

and he's mostly a hoops guy.

If it's true that Freddie did fire his agent, that may be telling though.

PTI guys talked about it. Agent put out an artifical

Jun 30, 2022, 10:03 AM

deadline per them, Braves had to do something, so they got Olsen. Freeman never given Braves final offer - agent thought he could get more they guessed.

Good news is he is with a good team, bad news is he really wanted to stay in ATL if the offer was good enough, which apparently it was.

soon

Yes, also Riley and Fried. The money saved with signing

Olson instead of Freddie will help with all 3.

FF could have stayed in ATL if he had taken the next-to-last

Jun 30, 2022, 5:08 PM

offer, which was what? ONLY $160 million dollars?

He has no one to blame but himself. Greed got him. But I'll be doing no hand-wringing for Freddie, he'll be fine.
