Horace Grant Senior led team vs UNC at LJ on Raycom Sports

This was one of the best Tiger Teams. They lost to a very good UNC but this team finished 2nd in the ACC regular season.

Everyone talks about Cliff Ellis Team three years later that could have gone to the Final Four if Tate George long court cost them the game, but this team was just about as good. If PG Grayon Marshall didn't go down late in the season with an injury this team could have gone real far in ACCT and NCAAT. Marshall was a great floor leader and QB for the team. Really good role players like Michael Tate, Anthony Jenkins, Jerry Pryor started plus Elden Campbell a freshman off the bench.

Horace Grant was one of the all time greats. He definitely is a basketball hall of famer.

hey, an how about Billy Packer as color commentator!

that is one think I miss in the earlier TV games is showing the starting lineups. They only do that now during the Final Four.

That was one of the best Clemson teams in history. Thanks for posting this--was at the game and have never seen it.

I was at that game. I remember sitting, or rather standing, under one of the baskets. Not sure how it is for students now but in those days if you got there early you could get a floor ticket. I remember several games being under the basket on the floor. There was a scoreboard right behind us, students used to put a cup over the horn on the scoreboard because it was so loud.

Fun days!

Went to a camp at Clemson summer before 8th grade. Got Horace Grant and Grayson Marshalls autographs. Also met Jerry Prior doing laundry behind Johnstone.

That team could flat shoot it

Tait was over 50% from 3 for the year. Having to move him to point when Grayson got hurt was a killer. Anthony Jenkins, the "automatic knuckleball," Michael Brown and Larry Middleton bombing them off the bench.

Lost to the holes twice and Duke twice, swept everyone else until the ACC tournament when Grayson was hurt and Mugsy Bogues and Wake beat us

yep, also found full game of Buckner did it in ACCT win over Holes in 90s.

Rick Barnes was fired up after win.

Just great memories of success!

And here was one of the full games so close at Cameron...

McIntyre's shot bounced off the rim and Iturbe's 3 was close too. Wow!

That would have given Barnes two wins at Cameron.

Id like to see the Tigers battle like this tonight...

I was at that game, on the floor under the basket opposite where the players came out of the tunnel. We would get there however early it took to get those seats, and it was incredible being so close to the action.

I remember how big JR Reid was, even as a freshman. He was like a bull in a china shop and got away with a lot of banging - my roommate kept screaming at the refs to “Get him out of there before he hurts somebody!” Kenny Smith was incredible in that game - he couldn’t be stopped, and was basically the difference.

I’d forgotten how much I disliked Scott Williams until I watched a few minutes of that video. What a big crybaby that guy was.

Amazing how much better ACC basketball was back then.

Clemson basketball was so much BETTER then in every way.

More talent, more exciting, more fun to watch. Watching this just reinforces how bad it SUCKS now. No comparison. In fact, basketball in general was so much better then. And no, I'm not just an old fart living in the past, as I believe many things are better now. Clemson football has never, ever been better than what we've had over the past 5-6 years; not even the great Danny Ford teams of the 80s, which were fantastic and whic I loved. It's not just nostalgia; Clemson basketball was once fun and exciting and we played on a different level and had some great players and had real hope. Now, just bleh. Clemson has let it tank.
