Former Clemson QB wins starting battle vs. former Gamecock

Northwestern announced Tuesday that Hunter Johnson will start the Wildcats' season opener on Sept. 3 hosting Michigan State at 9 p.m. on ESPN.
Johnson won out in a battle with Gamecocks transfer Ryan Hilinski for the starting role.
A former 5-star prospect, Johnson's Northwestern career hasn't exactly gone smoothly, seeing action in eight games over two seasons with five starts and 496 passing yards total (4 INTs to 1 TD).

May have to go to Northwestern that evening and give him some Clemson support. Only a 45 minute drive and tickets are easy to get.

I don't know his Mom's current situation after battling cancer but I hope all is well and that is behind Hunter. Hopefully he can enjoy the game again.

I expected him to be great when seen him play some backup at Clemson. I watched him 2yrs ago play for NW and he was pulled before game was over. He didn't look like he had any poise, missed throws and had an INT. NW produces some good QBs so I expected more from Hunter when I watched. NW usually produces some good O-Linemen as well.
Maybe this is his year? After 5yrs of college ball, he better have a good year if he wants a shot in NFL.

If Kelly Bryant would have transferred during the off-season you wouldn't have seen the negative reaction. Instead he came off as a poor sport by quitting immediately once he lost the starting job. I think most clemson fans pulled for him at Missouri anyway
