Bad Coot math

Jul 12, 2012, 9:52 AM

Just had a coot fan run his mouth about the OB beat down. I admitted that it was a bad day for CU, but not as bad as a 63-17 beat down, or not even as bad as a 45-0 beat down. Check yourself and check your math coot fans.

Clemson Football, the glory days are here!

I'm really hoping that a strong year of a BV defense will show everyone that Steele's scheme is what made the OB a huge downfall for us

I have to believe that BV's defense is going to be better since he is used to playing against high powered, hurry up offenses. Steele's system took far to long to signal in. How many snaps last year was our D still looking to the sidelines when the ball was snapped?

Re: They seem to forget about the 56-17 beat down they took

I find it funny that they always seem to forget about the beat down they took at the hands of Auburn(56-17) in what is probably the biggest game in the history of their program. Oh well, we all know the coots have a selective memory when it comes to history.

typical coot logic guys..they claim not living in the past.. the past is the past however still bringing up the OB....never hear them talk about 63-17...hmmm.. again please consider the #### nation and know they just cannot stand it that clemson nation is special.. we are a huge family and the football players will tell you that.. Never hear that coming out of Cootlumbia from the spur....I have to go thru Cootlumbia tonight on the way to the beach and thought I will eat after I go there.. Always get so nauseated when I travel thru there... GO TIGERS>>

How is the Orange bowl the past when that is the most recent game your football program has played to date?

Yes, it happened in the past. But until your next bowl game, that is the present (in regards to football).

It's just like the winner of the USC v Clemson game giving bragging rights for the year, because it is the present until the next time they meet.

It's less about the margin of victory

Jul 12, 2012, 10:25 AM

...and more about the national stage. 63-17 is only familiar around these parts. The WVU debacle was on a national stage and was setup by "I hope they remember us for our defense".

It was also in 2003...nine years ago. Long time.

1969 was a long time ago too but you still put that ACC

Jul 12, 2012, 10:31 AM [ in reply to It's less about the margin of victory ]

lost a game, but got rid of Steele and gained Venables as a result. That is a GREAT tradeoff.

How many QBs had their career game against Steele's defense last year? Answer: Except for the VT QB, ALL OF THEM.

Hmm i think we should reserve the "great tradeoff" judgment until he actually coaches a game.

Dont think it can be much worse than lettin another team (any team) hang 70 on us.

Not sure why they give us grief about it

Jul 12, 2012, 10:36 AM

especially since they had NOTHING at ALL to do about that. Just another example of them living vicariously through the accomplishments of others because they have so little to lean upon. Same can be said about our fans bringing up the Auburn beat down of the chickens.

At least we have plenty of beatdowns against the chickens ourselves in recent history to bring up :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it

Jul 12, 2012, 10:40 AM

That's funny, because you didn't beat us in 2010.. while we smacked you guys in 2011.

You really are living vicariously through Auburn for that, while we just got to witness another team follow in our footsteps, though they did it a little more emphatically and on a grander scale.

Jul 12, 2012, 10:45 AM [ in reply to Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it ]

I don't think you read my post, but then again, expecting reading comprehension from a chicken leaves a lot to be desired. I don't like when Clemson fans use the Auburn smack down against the chickens because that is just as bad as the chickens constantly bringing up WV. And if you want to talk about grander scale, more people tuned in to watch Auburn kick the #### out of SCU in the SEC Championship than the OB.

But, like I said, we have our own asswhoopin's of SCU in recent history to lean on than the chickens do, so they have no choice but to reach out to another school and live off their accomplishments.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it

Jul 12, 2012, 10:49 AM

You didn't say anything about your preferences in regards to Clemson fans bringing up the 2010 SEC championship game:

"Same can be said about our fans bringing up the Auburn beat down of the chickens."

There is no personal opinion in that statement.

Also, those "asswhoopin's" aren't recent enough, as another loss this year means those who started school in 2009 will have never even beaten us, nevertheless given us an "asswhoopin's"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it

Jul 12, 2012, 10:55 AM

Tell me, oh wise one, what constitutes "recent" history in your small mind? Let me guess, 3 years? That way it makes you guys look "undefeated" against your arch rival, whom your fans don't consider much of a rival anymore yet still infest our message boards and talk about Clemson more than their own school.

It should be implied by that statement that I don't care for Clemson fans living vicariously through Auburn's beatdown of the chickens. Don't try and twist my words into something to fit your own agenda. If you put it in context, you will see that I don't understand why USuC fans crow about WV's dismantling of Clemson when they had nothing to do with, and that same assertion is applied to Clemson fans who constantly bring up Auburn and USuC. Like I said, reading comprehension, learn some.

Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it

Jul 12, 2012, 11:06 AM [ in reply to Re: Not sure why they give us grief about it ]

I didn't say anything about what constitutes recent history and that is up to each individual person.. The last beatdown you had was 2008, fairly recent yes but all I said was that those students that started in 2009 have yet to beat South Carolina. For someone that likes to insult reading comprehension (even though he doesn't realize that it is not reading comprehension but rather reading interpretation, and without the ability to hear tone/voice inflections because this is written text it is very hard to imply anything without an explicit explanation).

I consider Clemson to be our biggest rival. If I had to pick one game to win each year however, it would be UGA because of the implications for the SEC. It is the same concept that Clemson can lose to South Carolina but still win the ACC because our game had nothing to do with the implications of the ACC.

I come to provide a different perspective than the orange kool-aid. I try to be reasonable in my responses, while still using rubs/jabs because this is still the biggest rivalry for all South Carolina/Clemson fans.

Re: We've had many winning streaks in this rivalry thoughout

Jul 12, 2012, 11:14 AM

Thank you. Whether you were being sarcastic or not, the rivalry is better now because we front a better football team than we did 10 years ago and beyond. The game means a lot more because both teams have felt like they could win this game each of the last 6 years, which makes for a good rivalry.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: We've had many winning streaks in this rivalry thoughout

Jul 12, 2012, 11:59 AM

When we won nine of eleven,I never heard one SC fan concede we had a better team or had recruited better than them. They always felt like they were going to win this game. I think they were favored in 2003. When returning from a trip the Friday night before the 03 game, I remember "Rusty the Rooster" predict a win on Korncoot's show. He said we did nor have a prolific offense.
