LOL

Wouldn't be surprised if that actually happens. After winning the title, I got the feeling that Venables feels like he's accomplished a lot of goals he set out here and is kinda ready to move on to something more challenging (SEC football). Going against Bama every year etc. Don't agree with the SEC being the best but the conference is what most people believe is the best in college football. Also I don't think Coach O will be there long and with immediate success coaching defensively I see Venables throwing his hat in to take over the program.

Challenging as in Auburn, Coots, Alabama? Asking for a friend***

Say what you want but the SEC gets a lot more exposure and viewers than the ACC. Ask your friend, if he's watching television and he has to choose between watching Tennessee Ole miss or Syracuse NC state, which one is he watching

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, you think Venables is driven by "exposure" ... really?

Feb 1, 2017, 6:43 PM

It's pretty common knowledge that he loves being a great defensive coordinator and he is perfectly satisfied coaching at Clemson.

He's making a ton of money doing what he does best all whle living in the greatest place in the country.

Besides, if he were an "exposure" junkie, he is not likely to get more of that than he's received the past two years at Clemson.

Hey COOT, there you go again pumping your chest about the SEC.
Check with ESPN ratings the last 2 years. Clemson games were among the highest if not THE highest.

This is the dumbest post I've ever read. And that's saying something as sports message boards aren't know to be highly cerebral. The thing you fail to realize is that your conference has a sh1tty product. I'm glad slot of people want to watch it, but other than Bama, it's trash. And none of the other schools hold a candle to Clemson. I know it's hard for dumb rednecks to understand this, but coaches don't decide to coach at a school because the conference has lots of fans. If that were the case, Vandy and Illinois would be hiring chip Kelly.

What kind of coach says, "I can't wait to coach at School x because auburn and Tennessee have lots of viewers? No coach from our school is going to make a lateral move to an inferior football team in an inferior football conference.

Heres a little fun fact for you idiots.

Clemson has had over 2 million people watch them play in person over the past 2 years. More people have watched Clemson play than any other team except Alabama. So if you want to see who has viewed the most games, just look at Clemson, because there are many SEC schools who can do better.

Why would venables give 2 sh1ts that your conference has trashy fans who get excited to watch 2 trash teams play each other. If you want to watch an inferior product with a bunch of people, or shop at a big box store, or eat with masses at a large restaurant that's great, enjoy it. .

BTW, Cameron indoor only holds 11k. CLA and gamecocks are dogsh1t compared to Duke though. Nobody in their right mind would go from Duke to Columbia because of viewership.

I'm excited if you want to pack out your stadium for a 56-7 beat down or 63-17. At least you'll get to see how big Boy football is played. Good luck with your misery over the next decade, at least you'll have company.

No one is leaving Clemson to work for Ed Orgeron

I'll pick NC State / Syracuse

SEC only offers larger stadiums and lower academic standards.

Dude, Coach V absolutely loves Clemson. No doubt in my mind that his kid comes here and we have him for a long time. If he wanted to be a HC he would have already been at another team. I'm sure he's had several opportunities.

Go listen to his comments/interviews before the national title regarding leaving and his comments now. It went from "no I'm content here" to "you never know what happens"
