“Are you telling me that Kirby Smart is inferior right now, even by one number, to Dabo Swinney, in spite of that [recent] championship?” he asked. “I don’t need to remind you but look at the trajectory of the programs right now and where they are.”
Bender clarified that he doesn’t view Smart as inferior, but rather a close equal to Swinney who simply hasn’t had time to catch up. The two continued to go at it for a while before Finebaum finally made his bold claim.
“I think Dabo Swinney is yesterday’s news,” the ESPN analyst said. “I mean, Kirby Smart is where it’s at in college football today. …You know what? Kirby Smart’s a better coach than Dabo Swinney and I don’t care how many national championships he has. I’m saying it right now.”

Started with COVID and the racial unrest in 2020, then continued with the portal and NIL.
Dabo seems to be finding his footing again, but he must adapt to the new realities of college football AND he has to get the players to make it happen on the field.
That starts with one position - quarterback. WRs and the OL need work too.
We will see how it plays out, but one thing is for sure, Dabo is not done.
Don't bet against him.

employee (Shill)? Anything that comes out of his mouth is slanted towards making that conference look good. How often do you hear him talk about HIS Alma Mater? Most people probably couldn't even tell you that he is a Tennessee grad, because he never mentions them. He is all about promoting the current powers in the SEC, which are Alabama (always) and Georgia (lately).
We can hate him all we want, but he is VERY good at his job, which is, promoting the SEC to the detriment of all other football conferences.
