Few baseball thoughts...

After losing both games to the coots I was part of the fire monte crowd. However this particular team made me pump my breaks and thing. Seems like this team’s finding it’s way a bit. We’ve got some power hitters in Parker and Grice there HR threats. There a few others that’s capable of hitting HR or two as well. Pitching dang Hoffman Askew them two was impressive. Seems like our weekend rotation should be sharpe Askew and Hoffman. I’m not saying this teams going to make a super regional. But what I am saying is this if this team continues to mesh. Then we may be surprised at the end of the year. Maybe this team is worth keeping monte one more year because we’ve got some young talent coming along and I’m more optimistic then ever about Clemson baseball!

Parker is a beast and will be a top 5 pick easy in the draft. Grice is going to be a stud and some of the vets are starting to come around...but I’m holding reservations because although BC can hit with anyone in the country, they have an awful pitching staff...that’s always been their issue. I’ll hold on my reservations until the Miami series...

From watching Saturday it was nice seeing us move runners along and driving them in. I recall seeing both a successful sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.

Of course, the doubles in the 10th were great to see!

I was very impressed with the pitching staff, as a whole, this weekend, outside of the first 2 innings Friday. Figure they only allowed 9 runs over the final 26 innings (3.11 ERA) despite having to throw a kid out there in Game 3 that had never started a game in his Clemson career (but dang what a great first start). Askew was on point, Rob Hughes was a Godsend in the middle innings Friday, Gilbert was very effective Friday night (not as much yesterday) and Clayton was an absolute beast in the first game yesterday. BC is not a great overall club, but the top 6 guys in their batting order are legitimate draftable players right now.

Eww, I would have just said pump my brakes... I don’t think anyone one wants to hear about anything else you’re pumping while watching baseball.

Excited to see a conference road sweep but not ready to go overboard with my praise yet. Need to get Sharpe and Anglin and Clarke back so big sweep without those three arms. Defense was spotty or bad in the first game and only a few guys are hitting well. Not sure why Sharpe isn’t hitting well because he is a good hitter. This team has fought back and are now ready to take the next step so let’s see what happens. I am hoping for the best and think we can win several series coming up but not too confident right now.

smh everyone knows we have not been hitting great but at least b!tch when it actually happens. we had 52 hits this weekend. pretty sure after friday we had 1 error in the other 2 games and while 6 errors look shocking 3 were on pickoff plays which indeed need to improve. winning 3 games on the road against a team with 3 potential 1st round or high draft choices and our staff being very thin should bring nothing but praise. we will lose other games so there will be plenty of time to complain but is it so hard to be extremely happy with what happened this weekend.
