Fair UGA position comparison (I think)

Aug 30, 2021, 4:43 PM

Offense
Oline - UGA
TE - Clemson - if arik Gilbert is playing this could be different
WR - Clemson
RB - UGA
QB - Push - too small a sample size from both to determine at this point

DLine - Clemson slight
Linebacker - UGA slight
Safety - UGA
CB - Clemson

Great athletes all over the field for both sides, game plan and execution will be the difference in this game. Brent Venables has proved how great he is with so much time to prepare for an opponent. I see the defense controlling the game while the offense has to find its way against another stellar defense. Clemson wins a close one 27-20

How do you guys see it?

Fair EXCEPT the QB position is not a push, Clemson gets the nod & it won’t be close comparison After Saturday…DJ is a generational QB

I have to agree and

I don’t know what tells anyone any different. Some of the dogcoots here point to his play at USC, but I call bs. After all, how could any QB not in the SEC compare with those in the SEC where it just means more. I guess when he defected from USC because he wasn’t good enough, he gained SEC speed, accuracy, decision-making, strength and agility.

I keep reading UGA fans say "he's started 2 games, is 1-1,

and had to come back against BC to win." Which is accurate but suuuuuper lazy. If you watch those games, you would know he was a complete asset as a true freshman and did a great job. His played Notre Dame IN South Bend against an eventual Playoff team and he did great.

I am very confident in DJ. I know some of the indications from reporters after fall practice is that there was still some tightening up to do but I liked what I saw last year and expect him to command this offense.

End every possession with a kick. Fair comparison except qb I think.

I guess I am more bearish than you are overall.

WR is CU slight with a Ngata hammy
TE TBD
DL is a push
LB is UGA
CB is push
S is UGA slight.

I've never understood comparisons like this - it doesn't

matter one bit how UGA's OL compares to our OL etc. It matters how UGA's OL compares to our DL, etc.........

The Clemson offensive attack is most potent when the run game is a part of it. To me this game will come down to if the Tigers can find some creases in the run game or not. If not, then the OL had better be above average at pass blocking!

I seem to recall Georgia having some late offensive "awakeness" with Daniels.

He will be a challenge to stop no doubt - but what will XT and Murphy have to say? Mascol and Foster? Henry and Swint?

Middle pressure as well - even against that stout Georgia line I think will happen. It's going to be hot. Does Georgia play as many players as Dabo likes to; because he trust them to play hard when they get in the game. Throwing fresh bodies at them in the heat will be huge!

I agree with your comparisons - QB may be a push as well. Though I think having some time to look at Daniels is going to be huge. Kind of like the same thing a rookie QB gets when they firs hit the league. "Until they get tape on you"!

We have tape on Daniels now! DJ's tape from last year was only sample sized and not what you will likely see. It was; don't get him hurt that stretch until Trevor gets back! So not as much running! We play SC State after Georgia and will most likely be able to beat them without big cinco. QB run game will be in effect. Tim Tebow ate up SEC defenses w/o being the fastest. That size and power barrelling down on you in that heat will get old!

Daniels is compotent and we will have our work cut out. But, the film study on him has likely revealed some things we should try and do.

TE Washington is very good

Part of the reason Gilbert is playing WR. I know we wanted both.
