EXPERT Wake Prediction

Unranked Clemson faces #10 Wake Forest this week.
The season started with Tigers #1 and Deacons unranked.

Going back many years one of my favorite players has been their QB - Sam Hartman.
Wake has a veteran team. They have an excellent offense. They have a good coach. I have really enjoyed watching their games this year. They have just the one loss to UNC 58-55.

An "unranked" against #10 should be a no-brainer, but being a "homer", feel sure the Tigers will win. I aint worried as to it, but getting in extra beer. This season is turning me into an alcoholic.

Poor play from the Tiger QB is standard this season. Now he has a brace on his knee which will not help. The back up QB dislocated his throwing shoulder in the last game, so we are where we are.

Where we are is with poor offensive line play. Last week we played with only the 2nd and 3rd string running backs and averaged under 3yrds against a 1-9 team.
The best player on the offense is Ross who is now out for the season.
Top players on offense will probably be 2 true freshmen receivers and and a true freshman running back.

It would appear if Wake cleared the field we could not match their season average of over 40 points per game.

Why do I think we will win?
The Tiger "D" will be more than a match for the Wake "O". They are not getting 40 or even 30.
Tigers will run the ball, control the clock and limit Wake "O" chances. I can't recall us doing that in recent years, but sure the coaches will heed this expert advice.

This game will be determined by turnovers. If we can block well enough to gets some yards rushing it will set up swings and screens to Shipley and throws across the middle to the tight ends. Our defense is playing better but will not be able to shut down Wake who is very good fundamentally. If we can get enough pressure on Hartman to force bad throws, we can get a big Int. to win the game.
