voter security poll

Jan 19, 2022, 10:14 AM

well this is odd

Among results, it found more than 75% of participants supported a requirement to show a government-issued photo ID in order to vote, while support among Black residents was even higher at 79%.

Re: voter security poll

Again, I'm in favor of it.

What I'm not in favor of is using this as a disqualifying trick. The real reason GOP party officials are so in favor of this, though, probably has something to do with the fact that the vast majority of people who do not have driver's licenses live in cities...and as such may not have valid ID.

A lot of people intend to vote, but those deadlines tend to sneak up on folks. If you have to go get a valid ID you don't have, and ALSO must register to vote 30 days prior to an election, this is going to disproportionately affect urbanites, which again, the GOP party officials know perfectly well.

It's a numbers game, and a lot of states are won and lost around the margins just by culling a few votes here, a few votes here, and before you know it that adds up to an election.

Georgia was won by 11,780 votes. As Trump himself said: he needs someone to go find them. Or at least, remove them from the other side.

If you're going to require ID - and I think that's fair, you SHOULD have to prove you are who you say you are to, you know, exercise your most important right as a citizen - the government should also ensure acquiring valid ID is easy, hassle-free, and automatic...even if you don't have a driver's license.

Well said.

And I support this. We aren’t saying ID isn’t important. But if you put this as standard make it easier to get an ID and easier to vote.

Have at it. 1 citizen. 1 vote. But then let me do drive thru voting. Let me vote on Sunday. It isn’t difficult

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

everyone has some type of government ID.

Jan 19, 2022, 10:36 AM [ in reply to Re: voter security poll ]

good grief. Or they couldn't live in our society. Everything requires ID

Re: everyone has some type of government ID.

Jan 19, 2022, 10:50 AM

25% of urban black people do not have a DL or state ID. They do have SSNs. These are facts.

Recently in Texas they asked to have a DL, State ID or SSN on your voting record. Less than 5% of the state had SSN tied to their voting record. So a significant portion of Black Texans will not be able to vote.

It should be noted they are not REQUIRED to have a state ID to exist so how do we solve this problem?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

so 25% of black urban people

Jan 19, 2022, 10:54 AM

can't get alcohol, get bank account, apply for food stamps, fly, apply for welfare, apply for SS or medicare, apply for unemployment benefits, rent an apt or house, drive, get married, buy a cell phone.
In NY (can't go to any restaurant or grocery store now).

lol, ok

Re: so 25% of black urban people

Jan 19, 2022, 10:59 AM

Funny thing is you’re right. They don’t have bank accounts. Or drive.

They can get benefits with a SSN. A mobile phone. Married. An apartment. Etc.

You’re ASSUMING these individuals live like you. They don’t. They don’t need a DL or State ID

So how do you solve this? Honestly just looking for an answer to a simple question. This barrier exists. Please detail how to fix it. Is that a problem for you? Or is it just easier to complain about libtards being too woke?

Or go to a dr, or pick up a prescription or buy drano.

I'm one of the more liberal members on this board but recognize the hypocrisy of many on my side of the aisle about an ID.

ID for drano, certain cough meds, shots, Dr, prescriptions and not a #### peep about how it affects people. But, mention ID to vote and suddenly its a national emergency. BS. It is because deep down they know it'll cut down on voter fraud.

There is absolutely no other reason why people are ok with saying minorities can be expected to have an ID to buy a bottle of drano but that same minority have issues getting the exact same kind of ID to vote.

At the least, they are hypocrites, at the most, they know it'll cut down on fraud. Bottom line. Period.

I'll add, it doesn't matter what the reasoning is, if a person can manage to get an ID to pick up a bottle of cough meds, that same person can manage to get an ID to vote.

Pretty #### simple.

Jan 19, 2022, 1:27 PM [ in reply to Re: so 25% of black urban people ]

Well, here's a crazy idea: if so many blacks don't have ANY I.D., why don't virtue-signaling low information activists (UK, BURM) organize a program to help them comply. It will, granted, take away from embarrassing yourself on P & R, but hey, it's the Patriotic thing to do, eh?

Maybe, just maybe, underprivileged minorities will suddenly become motivated to get a valid ID (when ID IS required (as it should)(unless you're against Voter Integrity), rather than relying on scumbag ballot collectors showing up at their doors?

LMAO at Dem voter laws. Deceitful, but that's nothing new.

Just look at what's going on in Texas.

Jan 19, 2022, 11:26 AM [ in reply to Re: voter security poll ]

Again, if you could show up with a valid ID and vote with no additional steps, I'd be all for it.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and what additional steps are those?***

Re: and what additional steps are those?***

I don't live in Michigan, but to my knowledge they have decent voting laws. They have same day registration, right? And they already require ID at the polls? What's going on in Texas is a legal loophole nightmare.

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/01/13/texas-voting-mail-rejections/

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

so, the extra step they have to take, for mail in only,

Jan 19, 2022, 11:10 AM

will now need to provide either their driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number twice: once on their absentee ballot application forms and once on the envelope in which they return their ballots.

Oh the horror.
So, yes, since they are not voting in person, this will help reduce voter fraud, by them simply entering in the last 4 digits of their SSN.

That is tough.

Re: so, the extra step they have to take, for mail in only,

Jan 19, 2022, 11:14 AM

Yet it is disqualifying half of them. They're using all sorts of excuses like people registering with their social but voting with their drivers license. Your right to vote is guaranteed, it shouldn't be something that can be denied by a paperwork error. There's also the bigger issue of why they're even changing the laws to begin with. Voter fraud isn't an issue, so why all the solutions to a problem that doesn't exist? Because new laws mean people who aren't up to date on everything get disqualified.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ok, if that is really the case

Jan 19, 2022, 11:25 AM

then they should fix that missed issue. I would agree.

But, in every voting situation, ballots get rejected.

If I don't fill in my bubble totally correct, it'll get rejected.

nothing is ever full proof. Shoot, how many dead people are discovered every year to vote.
