ETN shouldn't return kicks.

First, returning kicks is problematic as most successful ones result in penalties and with our offense we do not need a great return. Second, the chances on an injury on special teams with headhunters flying all around with an average return blocking team is an unnecessary risk. Third, we have plenty of studs who need playing time for kickoffs.

I have to admit, I was excited every time I saw him field one of those kicks. If he busted one loose and took it to the house, it would be amazing.
As Lawrence was quoted this week, "You can't play scared".

I'm 100% on board with it in the CFP games

We've seen that good teams are able to largely take ETN out of the game, and KO returns are a spot where we can potentially get him the ball out in space and let him make a play. We do need to be more selective about what kicks we return though.

I'm reading where we haven't played any good teams this year . Are you saying they did it to him last year ?

Maybe all the starters should be bubble wrapped and sit on the bench to keep from getting hurt. Wait a minute, we need them to play.
Play scared and you do get hurt. Play conservative and you lose!
Just win Tigers!

I don't recall seeing Ngata on the field Saturday. not on kick return and not in garbage time. Anyone else notice if he was out there?

He was listed as getting snaps on the participation report.
Same number as Ladson I believe.

I like him returning kicks but the only problem I saw with that is he ran it back to about the 40(good) but then took the first hand off and by the time we got inside their 30 yard line he looked a little gassed. Could cause lack of focus and a turnover if not careful on how they use him.

What are you saving him for? He has only 3 games left in his college career. This board is full of scaredy-cats. Etienne shouldn’t return kickoffs. Lawrence shouldn’t run with the ball. Our receivers shouldn’t run slant routes because they are going to hit. Why don’t we just put tutus on them and let them just play squat tag.

I asked the same question Saturday. He is a dangerous return guy no doubt, but you're also taking away from the amount of plays he will see at RB. While I believe Lyn J is an adequate backup and gonna be a really good RB, he's not ETN right now. Ngata and Kendrick would be the two guys I would put back there, but that's just me. ETN getting 15 or 20 carries in the backfield is more valuable to this club than returning kicks.
