Eligibility requires academic health. That’s sort of the point. Fred will be dealt with accordingly. What he did was horrible and if he doesn’t play then that is part of his punishment. Two totally different circumstances.

He's away from Georgia because he's not academically eligible to be there, from what I'm hearing.
That could be large for them. They've got some speed in their WR corps; what they don't have is any kind of size and Gilbert was to be their bail-out option, their replacement for George Pickens.
This is not good for them. Gilbert was sort of a TE/WR tweener, a lot more pass-catcher than blocker, and he presented match-up issues. LSU played him as an off-the-line TE but UGA was planning on using him as their big-man receiver, and they desperately needed him because JT Daniels is not remotely mobile and he holds the ball too long; without him there's really nowhere for them to go to win those 1-on-1's on the outside when Venables brings the heat. And you know Venables is going to bring the heat. Mercilessly.
If you wanna beat Venables, you'd best be able to beat his blitzes, or he's going to bury your QB and crush your soul right along with it, and they're going to be spraying chalk outlines on the field around the crater where your QB used to be and extracting your QB from that crater with a spatula. Unhealthy. See Jarrett Stidham. And Stidham was actually mobile.
They really, really need Gilbert. How much you wanna bet the Dawgs find a really creative way of getting him eligible before now and then?

You accepted the player who was kicked off of our team for disciplinary issues, found by a cop with a bag of weed and a gun, and charged. But the charges were miraculously dropped as soon as Kirby could get a hold of him.
It’s not just about grades with Gilbert, or else he’d still be practicing. He’s got mental issues. Good grief, he was too toxic for LSU. That should tell you something.

I don’t understand all these comments about him being academically ineligible. Do people not realize we’re talking about the SEC here? There are no academic qualifications needed to play football in that conference. If your coach wants you then you’re eligible. I can’t think of the last great player in that league that was ineligible due to grades.

coming to UGA. That'd lead one to assume,he didn't have the grades to stay at LSU. As Quo says, they will try and find a way to get him in, but hard to do when LSU knows the deal LOL
