Over on FGF and on ESPN, I keep hearing phrases like this:
So and so has SEC speed,
He has SEC experience.
He is an SEC caliber player.
Exactly what does this mean? Do they throw the ball further, kick it higher, run faster or hit harder in the SEC than in other conferences?
I don’t understand.

SEC speed means you have the athletic ability to play for offenses like Tennessee, Georgia and USuC that looks like their play calling is from the stone age.

Excluding Clemson, the SEC, Big 10, PAC 10, Big 12, MAC and Conference USA are better then the ACC!

have similar talent to the upper echelon of the SEC.
BUTT, regardless of that, if you were to take the top 4 teams from the SEC each year, and the top 4 teams from any other conference, and have a football tournament, the SEC would come out on top just about every time. Clemson would hold up their end for the ACC, but the supporting cast of other schools just wouldn't be there.
Those are just the cold, hard facts as they currently exist. Until we get more ACC programs that can rise to near the level of Clemson and Alabama, it will continue to be true. You can argue that no other program in the SEC is close to Bama right now, and that would also be true. But, even with my Orange Colored Glasses on, the SEC's supporting cast is still superior to that of the ACC.
About the only place where the ACC would have an advantage would be at the very bottom of the conference. Our cellar dwellers could most likely take Kentucky, Vanderbilt and South Carolina right now.

myself when I was at Clemson. And, if a professor even mentioned that class attendance was optional, I universally availed myself of the option to sleep in.
