Elon right again

May 27, 2022, 7:47 AM

He says

Some bankruptcies need to happen.

Also, all the Covid stay-at-home stuff has tricked people into thinking that you don’t actually need to work hard. Rude awakening inbound!

He is 100% right. Part of the USA's problem is being too fat and happy - same issue as thinking you don't actually have to work although COVID made this worse. Compounding the problem, especially with all the libbies with their noses in their phones, is people thinking everyone else is rich, good-looking, partying 24/7, and driving supercars. Priorities are messed up.

It's always a libby thing

I agree. Cities should fail. States should fail. Those feedback loops are important. I think people would be pretty upset if we let that happen.

If it takes failing to induce responsibility, so be it. Survival of the fittest. Natural selection. Whatever, but governments cannot be about keeping politicians in office. Governments are supposed to serve people, and by being irresponsible they are not doing that.

People are going to be more "upset" when they do not have a country, but I am pretty sure that will not be a concern of mine or most TNetters. It won't happen soon, but the path is set.

We should have a system where politicians are voted into office.

Remember that time you told everyone here you wished for a more authoritarian government that would punish and lock up people for their views?

Good times.

How is it that some people are so adamantly opposed to government stimulus/help for individuals but so openly supportive of help/subsidies for corporations. They both deserve to fold, or neither does. Since SCOTUS decided a company has the same rights as an individual, it seems like we ought to be able to be consistent here.

I have no problem helping those in need “temporarily”. And agree that bank bailouts are in the same category.

But what happened during Covid, was just plain ridiculous.

Multiple stimulus checks
Extra tax credits
Extra unemployment
But you didn’t have to pay your rent or utility bills. ### was the money for? TVs and shoes??

The government actually made money on the Bank "bailouts".

Ditto Keowee.

I'm not for gov't subsidies in general. There might be special cases of non-profits or charitable orgs, but so many of those are corrupt.

The gov't messes things up more times than not.

One example: I'd really like to have gas without ethanol. End the corn subsidies.

Ok. Do all companies that make less than a certain amount get subsidies?

Makes flippant comments about a recession.

Except in a recession, hard working people lose their jobs. Hard working people lose their businesses. It hurts undeserving families.

I'm sure you wouldn't be so eager to tickle Elon's taint if you were one of the people who suffered from a recession.

Hope you don't mind if I don't listen to such advice from wannabe Bond villains.
